The reconstructed Fairline Fisheries Housing Scheme in Dehiwala has been declared open.

The Fairline Fisheries Housing Scheme in Dehiwala was reconstructed at a cost of 11 million rupees parallel to the one million Jana Sevana Housing Progrmme. It was declared open under the patronage of Minister Wimal Weerawansa. The Housing Scheme which was in a dilapidated condition was reconstructed after 14 years. The families faced immense difficulties in living in these houses. The Government drew its attention for the immediate reconstruction of the houses based on many requests made by these families.

Expressing views on the occasion, Minister Wimal Weerawansa said that the problem they had was with the Opposition beyond the seas and not with the opposition in the country. The Government had no issue with the elections locally. It will triumph in the Western and Southern Provincial polls. The Government cannot be defeated in polls held locally. The Opposition is now attempting to create conflicts and destabilize the country with the support of the Western nations at the Geneva polls. The Minister said that whatever the outcome was, the people of the country are with the Government

Senior Minister A.H.M. Fowzie, Secretary to the Ministry of Engineering Services, Housing and Public Amenities G.H.L. Wimalasiri and Dehiwala Mount Lavinia Mayor Dhanasiri Amaratunge were among those present on the occasion.
