The Eastern Muslim Community Forum has called on the Middle East countries to extend their support to Sri Lanka in Geneva. The appeal was made at a news conference in Colombo.
F.M.A. Anzar Moulana said that as the Muslim community they strongly oppose the Resolution brought forward against Sri Lanka in Geneva. They made a request from the Embassies of Muslim countries in Sri Lanka to extend their full support to defeat the Resolution tabled against Sri Lanka. These countries had given them an assurance to support Sri Lanka.
Moulavi S.L. Fareed pointed out that a peaceful environment prevails in the country after vanquishing terrorism. Development is taking place in every part of the country. All communities are living in unity irrespective of differences. The international community should understand this situation. Under such circumstances it is unreasonable to bring a resolution against Sri Lanka. Also everyone should unite to rout such forces which are rising up against the country.
Moulavi M.M.M. Jabir said that they had called on the Arab missions not to support the Resolution tabled in Geneva by the United States against Sri Lanka
