Four teams have been deployed to investigate the shooting at the residences of the Commissioner General of Excise and the OIC of the Excise Special Investigations Unit.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that someone had opened fire at the residence of the Excise Commissioner General at 2.00 a.m. today. Three gunshot marks, two at the house and one at the parked vehicle were reported. After about one hour another incident of a shootout was reported at a house within the Kottawa Police Division.
It is revealed that this particular house belongs to the OIC of the excise special investigations unit. SSP Ajith Rohana said that no injuries had been reported in these two incidents. Four teams are inquiring. There is no information so far on any eye witnesses. Some information is being uncovered on scientific evidence. Attention is being focused on whether the attacks had been unleashed by one individual or a group of persons. He added that they expect to soon uncover information on the suspects.
