More United National Party supporters are crossing over to the United People’s Freedom Alliance with the elections for the Western and Southern Provincial Council polls nearing.
A large ground representing the United National Party secured members of the United People’s Freedom Alliance during a public meeting held in the Galle electorate under the patronage of Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva. Many people’s representatives in the area including Parliamentarian Manusha Nanayakkara were present at this meeting. The supporters who ditched the UNP and crossed over to the Alliance said that their aim is to support the Government’s operation to develop the country after routing terrorism.
In the meantime, 57 UNP supporters from the Divulapitiya area have joined the Freedom Alliance. They secured membership of the Alliance during public meetings held under the auspices of North Central Chief Minister S.M. Ranjith. They emphasized that no one who expects development and co-existence can place trust in the United National Party.
