They are prepared to bow our heads to the people. We will not do so to imperialists or their henchmen. We believe in the judgment of the people. The President said this addressing the maiden really in Gampaha. The maiden rally of the United Peoples Alliance in connection with the Western and Southern Provincial Council elections, commenced this afternoon under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The rally has been organized by Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Deputy Minister Pandu Bandaranayake. Addressing the massive crowd gathered at Gampaha Urban Council Ground, the President said that he would never bow his head to imperialists or their henchmen betraying the hard won peace and freedom. The President said that a 30 year old war was ended. The result of ending the war is the development of the country. The other result is that we have to go to Geneva every six months to answer. They asked whether we have violated human rights. What is the bigger human right than allowing people to live. Right to life is a human right. We lived in fear and suspicion those days. Isn’t it protection or violation of human rights when we stopped bombs exploded in Dehiwala, Central Bank attack, bombs exploded in Kebithgollawa, Muslims in prayer killed inside the Mosque in Kathankudi, worshippers killed near Sri Maha Bodhi, Dalada Maligawa bombed, bombs exploded everywhere in the country. I told international leaders clearly when I met them that we never violated human rights in this country. We protected them. Today some people who live here support those people and carry various tales because they cannot cover up the opinion of the people. They cannot take anywhere, to electric chair or to hang us. Only people can remove us from the country. The people should decide the right and wrong, not the human rights commission. The decision is your hands. If you say its wrong we have to bow our heads to that. We are prepared to bow our heads to the people but we clearly say that we are not prepared to do so to imperialists or to their henchmen. We believe in the people of this country. Expressing his views further the President said that the Government introduced the technology subject into schools enabling the children to move forward with the future world.
