Construction work on another 10 thousand houses on behalf of families living with less facilities in the Colombo City gets underway honouring another pledge given by the President.
At the inauguration of the Mihindusenpura Housing Project in Dematagoda, President Rajapaksa gave a pledge on behalf of the families living with less facilities. Fulfilling this pledge, construction work on 10 thousand more houses at seven locations within the Colombo City commenced today.
A notable feature was the launch of the construction at the same auspicious time with the participation of seven local engineering firms. The City of Colombo in the commercial hub of Sri Lanka. But the haphazard construction of illegal shanties in several locations within the City by the low income group has become one of the main obstructions for the country’s economy.
These housing projects are being launched under the guidance and supervision of the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Gotabhaya Rajapaksa based on the instructions of President Rajapaksa for the implementation of a pledge to make the Colombo City the commercial hub of Asia, as enunciated in the Mahinda Chinthana.
