The current peaceful environment prevailing in the North has come
in for praise from the Australian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka. She has pledged further Australian assistance for the development projects.
Australia’s High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Robyn Mudie appreciated the immediate development that has taken place in the Northern Province within a short period after the ending of the 30-year conflict. She said she is happy to witness the civilians of the North fully reaping the peace dividends. She made these observations during a discussion with Northern Governor G.A. Chandrasiri after a brief tour of the Northern Province.
During the meeting held at the Northern Governor’s Office, the Australian High Commissioner declared that that the action initiated by the Government to remove landmines in the North and resettle the displaced was laudable. She further said that the Australian Government would continue to grant further assistance for development projects that are to be launched in the future.
The Northern Governor gave a detailed description of the situation prevailing in the Northern Province.
