Sri Lanka’s export earnings last month alone have reached 1.67 Billion US Dollars. Minister Basil Rajapaksa claims that this is the highest income earned by Sri Lanka through exports within one month.
The Minister made these references addressing Ambassadors, High Commissioners and State Officials of eleven countries including Afghanistan, Germany and the Maldives who were recently appointed to Sri Lanka. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Economic Development.
The Minister revealed these details at this meeting on Sri Lanka’s achievements in the economic sector during the last few years. The Minster told them that the development in the road network including the newly constructed expressways assisted in achieving this feat. Noting that the number of tourist arrivals had also surged, the Minister said that the Government’s aim was to increase the number of tourist arrivals to 200 thousand per month during the final four months of this year.
