The Government has spent 4900 million rupees to enhance health facilities in the Northern Province.
All District and Regional Hospitals of the Northern Province which were shut down due to the war are now functioning. The Central Government has mooted several programs with the aim of providing an enhanced health service to the people of the Province.
Northern Province Governor G.A. Chandrasiri said the expenditure incurred by the Government on behalf of the Health Service of the North during the past four years was 4960. The Governor provided these details joining in a progress review of the Health Services provided to the Northern Province. The meeting held at the Governor’s office in Jaffna was attended by high level officials within the health sector.
