Japanese Educationist Dr. Thio Kiyo has mentioned that the growth achieved by Sri Lanka in the educational sphere at present is significant. He made this reference opening the Book Exhibition organized in parallel to Book Publications Day on the fourth day.
This Book Exhibition is jointly organized by the Education Ministry and the Educational Publications Department. Today’s official opening of the Exhibition took place under the patronage of Minister Bandula Gunawardena. Members of the Maha Sangha including the Ven. Ittepane Dhammalankara Thera and a group including Independent Television Network Chairman Rosmand Senaratne were present on the occasion.
Expressing his views on the occasion, Dr. Thio Kiyo said that he had visited Sri Lanka on 14 occasions, but it is on this occasion that he had been able to note the vast improvements that hae taken place in Sri Lanka in the educational sphere.
Organized at the Education Ministry premises at Isuruparaya, the Exhibition is opened from 8 am to 8 pm. The Exhibition will conclude on the 11th of this month. Seminars have also been organized in parallel to the Exhibition.
