The national level Fertilizer Laboratory constructed to mark the Golden Jubilee of the Ceylon Fertilizer Company has been opened. The Laboratory at Hunupitiya, coming under the purview of the Ceylon Fertilizer Company has been developed as a national level Fertilizer Laboratory at a cost of 30 million rupees. The opening of this Laboratory took place today under the patronage of Ministers Basil Rajapaksa and Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena. This Laboratory is equipped with facilities to test the composition of the fertilizers soil samples, chemicals such as Cadmium. It also has facilities to test the standards of the fertilizer packing bags. This Laboratory has already secured the ISO 17025 Standard certificate and the 2005 certificate. Addressing the function, Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena recalled that the President during the last budget allocated the finance needed to the construction of this Laboratory under the Mahinda Chinthana. Deputy Minister Y.G. Pathmasiri, Western Province Minister Nimal Lanza and Chairman of the Ceylon Fertilizer Company Buddhika Madihahewa were among those present on the occasion.
