The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has issued orders to all media institutions to refrain from giving publicity to statements made by the Sri Lanka Thowheed Jamad Organization which may disparage religions. When the lawsuit was taken up for hearing today, the Colombo Crimes Division said that the Muslim Religious Affairs Department has mentioned that the Sri Lanka Thowheed Jamad Organization had not been granted permission for the propagation of religion. The lawsuit was filed claiming that statements derogative to the Lord Buddha had been made. Accordingly the Magistrate said it is appropriate that the Secretary of the Organization should seek an apology from the Malwatte and Asgiriya Mahanayake for the mistake committed. Colombo Magistrate Gehan Pilapitiya who granted time to the Police to conduct the investigations concerned, enlarged the five activists of the organization produced in Court on a surety bail of 500 thousand rupees each. Further hearing was adjourned until the 08th of July.
