Intellectuals have praised the decision of the President to take part
in the Swearing-in Ceremony of new Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The official Swearing–in ceremony of new Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be held tomorrow. The Indian Government invited President Mahinda Rajapaksa to attend the ceremony and he accepted the invitation. Intellectuals point out that the President’s decision will further strengthen Indo-Srilanka relations and it would also be a blow to the elements who want to damage the relationship between the two countries. It is a positive sign that the BJP ignored the objections of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha Jayaram and MDMK Party Leader Vaiko. The new Indian Prime Minister has said that he hoped for stronger relations with Sri Lanka. The Indian media reports that a large number of people have been invited to the swearing in ceremony, including Asian State Leaders, Indian actors, actresses and singers.
