The Sri Lankan worker fraternity has joined hands with their colleagues the world over in commemorating May Day this year. 20 May Day rallies and 15 processions have been organized to commemorate the event.
The workers from all parts of the country who descended on Colombo, were seen participating in the May Day processions with keen enthusiasm.
The May Day procession of the United People’s Freedom Alliance commenced from near the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre in Colombo.
Workers came in droves to participate in the Freedom Alliance May Day procession to express their gratitude to the President who has brought security to the people including the workers by eradicating terrorism from the motherland.
Constituent parties of the Freedom Alliance have joined hands to offer their strength to the President due to his fearless leadership.
Workers are participating in the processions due to the vast benefits they are enjoying and the measures taken by the Government to make them shareholders of economic development by creating industrial peace through a good working environment and increasing labour productivity.
