44,000 thousand are displaced – Weather improving
44,000 members of 10,000 families are displaced as a result of floods and landslides. The number killed is 23 while one person is missing. Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre Pradeep Kodippili said that the granting of relief to the disaster-affected families is being continuously provided.

Over 300 persons are displaced due to floods at Palindanuwara in Kalutara. They are being provided with relief.
Flood waters in several areas in the Gampaha District are receding. The operation of trains was obstructed as the Up Country line in the Mirigama Ganegoda areas was flooded.
Ratnapura District Secretary Sunil Kannangara said that low lying areas within the Kiriella, Ayagama, Kuruwita and Ratnapura Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Ratnapura District which were flooded are still under water. The water level of Kaluganga has reached the spill level.
Several business locations were damaged due to a fallen tree in the Pelmadulla town. There are obstructions to the movement of traffic along the Pelmadulla-Embilipitiya area.
The Talduwa area was flooded due to the overflow of the Seethawaka River. Our correspondents reported that in general the weather has improved in the Kegalla District.
Flood waters are reported to be receding fast in areas such as Wakwella, Gonapura, Ukwatte and Gintota in Galle. Our reporter said that the water level of Ginganga is also decreasing.
However, some areas in the Galle District are still under water. Certain locations along the Galle-Udugama, Udugama-Dellawa and Udugama-Baddegama roads are submerged.

A house in the Mount Vernon Estate within the Dimbula Police Division in Nuwara Eliya was completely destroyed due to an earthslip.
The Police have requested drivers to be cautious in operating their vehicles as heavy rains are being experienced in the Central Hills. Three women suffered injuries following a motor accident on the Hatton Bogawantalawa main road.
Meanwhile, a lorry had veered off the road and damaged a house by the side of the road due to the unfavourable weather. One person was killed while two others sustained injuries. The accident happened in the Lellupitiya area in Ratnapura. The driver and another person of the lorry who were wounded were admitted to the Ratnapura Hospital.
One persons were killed when a motorbike collided with a bus at Yatiyana in Thihagoda. The victim was a 29-year-old employee of the Cultural Centre in Hakmana. He was a resident of Deiyandara.
