Australia has gifted the second patrol craft to Sri Lanka Navy.
The document of handing over of the second patrol craft to Sri Lanka Navy by the Australian Government took place at the Navy headquarters. Australian High Commissioner Robin Moody handed over the document to the Navy Commander Vice Admiral Jayanath Colambage. Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott who visited Sri Lanka last November, inspected the ship “Sayura” belonging to the Navy. Appreciating the steps taken to prevent illegal immigration, consented to provide the naval craft to further strengthen maritime security. Accordingly the first craft was handed over to Sri Lanka Navy in March last year. The handing over ceremony took place in Australia.
