Add comments

Terrorism was a scourge for the country.

It unleashed massive destruction and impeded the day to day activities of the civilians.

The Commander in Chief and the heroic soldiers succeeded in eradicating the terrorists. If not the motherland would have plunged into chaos further being overshadowed with the dark shadows of terrorism.

The tiger terrorists ruthlessly murdered three innocent civilians at Konkele in Manampitiya Polonnaruwa on 10th June 1991 and thus embarked on their on their campaign on 10th June throughout the dark era with the intention of taking away more lives. Two war heroes died in another assault mooted by the terrorists in the Batticaloa area on 10th June 1991.

These tiger terrorists took away the lives of four more war heroes who were engaged in their duties in the Pooneryn area in another attack on 10th June 1992. The terrorists using small weapons unleashed an attack on the war heroes in Jaffna on 10th June 1996. As a result two war heroes sacrificed their lives on behalf of the country.

A heinous attack was mooted by these ruthless terrorists in the Thandikulam area in Vavuniya on 10th June 1997. Following this assault, 156 brave soldiers sacrificed their lives on behalf of supreme freedom of the motherland as well as the future of the country. The next target of the merciless terrorists was Paranthan in Kilinochchi. In this attack on 10th June 1999, the country was deprived of the valuable services of 20 war heroes.

Demented by the heavy defeats suffered, these barbaric terrorists launched attacks in the Kurukkalkulam and Janakapura areas taking away the lives of two brave soldiers.

Terrorism which plagued the country in this manner was uprooted from the country from the Nanthikadal Lagoon. That historic day was 18th May 2009.

By then these tiger terrorists had taken away a total of 197 lives on 10th June throughout the dark era. It included four innocent civilians. The other 193 were war heroes who made supreme sacrifices on behalf of the motherland.

Following the decisions taken by the unflinching and fearless leader President Rajapaksa as the Commander in Chief and under the guidance of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, the heroic soldiers succeeded in advancing in the humanitarian operations.

The result was the permanent enthronement of peace liberating the country from the terrorists. It was a magnificent gift given to the nation. Under these circumstances all communities are leading peaceful and happy lives. But certain hostile forces are determined to destroy the unbridled freedom enjoyed by all communities. But the patriotic fraternity of the motherland will never permit such forces to raise their heads again.

The nation has proven this with clear evidence emphasizing that they remained with courage and strength with the Commander in Chief and the Government.

The patriotic citizens have practically proved with evidence in this respect, further strengthening the Government as well as the State Leader.

These dark memories are being refreshed in these episodes that the nation may act responsibly in a manner that ensures such destruction would not recur. Action has been taken to display the photographs of the war heroes who made supreme sacrifices in the battle to rout terrorism and discharge a noble service as an honour to the sacrifices they have made.
