Young men and women of the North are making a vital contribution to the nation building development drive. 5000 youth have joined in the operation launched via the Civil Defence Force.
This massive operations is already in place covering every sphere with the aim of making the country the Wonder of Asia after ending the conflict.
These young men and women are making an enormous contribution to uplift the national economy. The Civil Defence Department is initiating this programme with the aim of soliciting the contribution of these young men and women tp the country’s development drive finding solutions to their unemployment problem.
5000 Northern young men and women are being rec ruited to the Civil Defence Department on the instructions of President Rajapaksa and the guidance of Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. A notable feature is that more than 2000 of these youth being ex-combatants rehabilitated and reintegrated into society.
The Security Forces are discharging a massive task in the country’s development effort with the end of the war. The Civil Defence Department said that these youths who are joining the Civil Defence Forces are also making a notable contribution on behalf of the development of the country joining in the development drive. 71 young men and women were recently re recruited to the Civil Defence Force at the Defence Headquarters in Jaffna. Director General of the Civil Defence Force Rear Admiral Ananda Peiris, Jaffna Security Forces Commander Major General Udaya Perera and Senior DIG Pujitha Jayasundera were among those present on the occasion.
