The deposit of Sacred Relics in the Sandahiru Seya built on behalf of the harmony of the motherland after being united, took place under the patronage of the President this morning.
A religious ceremony was held to place the Sacred Relics within the Dome of the Sandahiru Seya – The Victory Stupa – under the patronage of President Rajapaksa in Anuradhapura. Thereafter the President inaugurated the exposition of the Sacred Hair Relics. The Relics received from Bangladesh were brought Anuradhapura from the Gangarama Temple in Hunupitiya and thereafter its exposition for the public was inaugurated by the President.
The deposit of the Relics within the Dome of the Sandahiru Stupa also took place under the President’s patronage. The President participated in religious observance at the Sandhiru Seya which was built for the harmony of the united motherland.
Members of the Maha Sangha including Chancellor of the Kelaniya University the Ven. Welamitiyawe Kusaladhamma Thera, Chief Incumbent of the Atamasthana the Ven. Pallegama Sirinivasa Nayake Thera were present on the occasion. Many Parliamentarians, heads of Security sectors as well as a large number of devotees joined in this occasion and also in religious observances.
