The President pays obeisance to the historic Jaya Sri Mahabodhi on Poson Full Moon Poya Day.
President Rajapaksa who is in the Anuradhapura City to participate in various religious programmes centering Anuradhapura marking Poson Full Moon Poya Day, paid obeisance to the historic Jaya Sri Mahabodhi this morning and secured blessings.
The President then joined in religious observances at the historic Ruwanweli Seya and secured blessings. He also had a brief discussion with Chief Incumbent of the Ruwanweli Seya the Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Thera.
The President received an opportunity to exchange pleasantries with the devotees who had descended upon the Anuradhapura City for the Poson Poya.
The Poson Environment treatment programme jointly organized by the Central Environment Authority and the Ministry of Environment and Renewable Energy centering the Anuradhapura City is also in place this Poson Poya. The President too joined in this programme. It is operative under the theme “Clean Environment is Sacred.”
