President Rajapaksa pays obeisance to the Sacred Tooth Relics at the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy. He also participated in religious observances at the Natha and Pattini Devales.
President Rajapaksa visited the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy this morning, venerated the Sacred Tooth Relics and secured blessings.
The President who arrived at the historic Pattini Devale in Kady visited the Buddhist Shrine Room at the Devale premises, offered flowers and secured blessings. Thereafter he attended a special Pooja at the Pattini Devale. The President along with First Lady Shiranthi Wickremasinghe Rajapaksa then joined in the boiling of milk in the morning at the Devale.
The President then arrived at the historic Sri Natha Devale premises and joined in religious observances where the Buddha’s bowl of relics are placed. An offering of alms to Kiri Ammawaru was organized at the Natha Devale this morning. The President and the First Lady also joined in this almsgiving.
The President thereafter unveiled the Ranveta built at the Natha Devale with the personal contribution of the Basnayake Nilame of the Devale Attorney Gayan Heenkanda.
Pesident Rajapaksa also joined in an Ashirvada Pooja at the Natha Devale.
The President thereafter unveiled the Ranveta built around the Wel Bodhiya at the Natha Devale premises.
Senior Minister Athauda Seneviratne, Minister Bandula Gunawardena, Deputy Minister M.K.D.S. Gunawardena, Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake and several Parliamentarians were among those present on the occasion.
