A special programme has been unveiled to transform
the Western Province into the zone free from dengue.
This programme has been launched by the Western Province Education Department on the instructions of Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunge. It is compulsory to conduct dengue control shramadana campaigns two days a week.
Every Divisional Office has been instructed to frequently monitor this programme. The Zonal Officers have been advised to supervise these activities weekly. The responsibility of cleaning the school divided into several Zones is tasked in the teachers. The Principal has to personally monitor these activities.
The Provincial Education Department has been instructed to apprise the school children of the disease and how it should be controlled.
