A meeting attended by all those who helped for a change under a new "Yahapalanaya"government
was held when it completed one year since the name of the common opposition candidate was announced. At this meeting a question was raised by Upul Shantha Sannasgala on the publishing in the media the news that the salary of President's brother ,Chairman of the Telecom and Mobitel had been increased by him under the Yahapalanaya government. To this question the information published in the media the President had replied that it was fake news that had been published.The Ravaya newspaper had published that owing to pruning of the director board the Chairman's salary had been increased. But the President had categorically denied this and had said that since January this year his salary has not been increased.
