Petition filed against Sarath Fonseka's election to Parliament on UNP national list squashed
The three bench judge panel of the Supreme Court had on the 24th instant thrown away the human rights petition filed in the Supreme Court against the election to the Parliament Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka from the national list of the United National Party.
The petition had been filed by the members of the Alternate Principle Triangle ( Vikalapa Pratipaththi Kendraya) as Field Marshal is not a member of the United National Party and hence he should not be eligible to be nominated from the national list of the UNP.The attorney at law appearing for the petitioner had stated to the three bench judge panel of the Supreme court when the case was taken up for hearing on the base of a human rights violation.
They had unanimously agreed that the case need not be heard on that point had thrown the case away.
