The day Wijaya Nandasiri was the happiest

The day Wijaya Nandasiri was the happiest

The Late distinguished artiste Mr. Wijaya Nandasiri had two children. It was a son and a daughter. Son Rasanjana had left to America and had pursued a training course to become a Pilot while the daughter Nawanjana desired to become a Pre-school teacher. The daughter like the son were clever in singing. All four members in the
family had participated in singing at certain fiestas. Wijaya loved his two children equally.

The day his daughter entered into marriage became the day which brought the biggest happiness in his life. She married a person known as Chaminda Gooneratna and Chaminda was someone who engaged in business activities in Brisbane, Australia. Therefore after marriage his daughter had to migrate to Australia. Though the journey of his daughter leaving the country was no doubt something which pricked his heart, Wijaya did not want to be a stumbling block in that respect. However before her departure Wijaya wanted to commemorate the wedding of the daughter in grand style. For that purpose Wijaya even invited the then President.

The engagement was carried out towards the end of 2012 with the signature of the former President the latter of whom held his tenure towards the end of  that period. Later the wedding ceremony was held in grand style in the month of January, 2013 at Colombo Hilton. On that occasion large numbers of those in the Field of Arts received invitations. On the day of the wedding Wijaya wanted to sing and dance by embracing Devika. It was because of his overflowing joy. Even today artistes comment that the wedding day was the day that Wijaya who was clever in telling interesting casual jokes in common day life as it was in films as well as dramas proved to be the happiest day he had spent.

Though he earned a big income from films, he engaged in drama to a large degree for the sake of self satisfaction. Whatever it is, it was stage plays which brought him fatigue.  Every weekend he would reserve time for stage plays; but he somehow or other never failed to keep a time to converse with his daughter in Australia over the internet on weekends.
