Investigate into students who were embarrassed sporting Burka at examination centre-Minister
The other day it is reported that some female students of St Mary's College who Nawalapitiya who had entered the examination hall to sit for the GCE examination wearing Burka's had been embarrassed. In this regard the Minister of education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam had requested an investigation and forward a report to him.
The Minister has requested the authorities concerned not to hurt them in any way. The minister had
requested the commissioner general of education to request the examiners to deploy a female to ascertain their identity before they enter the hall.Hence in that way there would not be any hassle in allowing them to sit the examination.The Minister had said that such small matters if the intent is to provoke racialism and ethnic conflicts it is a very sad situation.
