Tomato-attacks, stone-throwing, obscene words ... punishment given for those who refrained from the strike!

The islandwide bus strike in swing today has created a tremendous inconvenience from the point of view of the public and a number of instances where buses, three-wheelers and trains refraining from the strike were attacked by the strikers. Because of this reason some three-wheel drivers have feared hiring their three-wheelers, it
was reported. The road is full of private vehicles, CTB buses and three-wheelers the drivers of which have been brave enough to put their vehicles on the road. 

Stone-throwing at CTB buses wre reported from Tangalla, Henakaduwa, Mount Lavinia and Trincomalee. An express bus from Negombo - Colombo had been subjected to damage from a stone-throwing incident. Tomatoes were hailed at three-wheelers for not supporting the strikers at Badulla - Mahiyangana Road. In the meantime, a heated situation has flared up because of strikers who had tried to block the Chilaw - Colombo train at Galkanda Junction, Chilaw.
