"We are not socialites ... had left girl who helped ... because of an actress!" -- Dasun's mother
Though Dasun Nishantha, the actor who committed suicide had stated in interviews with newspapers that his mother and father were Civil Engineers and that they are living in Canada, it was revealed yesterday that the true situation is something different.
At the time Dasun's dead body was being taken
to a florist in Gampaha after the Inquiry into Sudden Deaths was over last evening (26) at Kalubowla Hospital, Lalitha Swarna Kumari, Dasun Nishan's mother mentioned that she has another son apart from Dasun and the age gap between the two of them is 10 years.She mentioned that her husband, a Tamil national had left her and that her second son was about one and a half years old at that time. He had migrated to Canada after which she had looked after both children and gave them education with great difficulty. She added that she used to come daily to Homagama Wilfred Senanayaka Playground from her home in Nittambuwa and used to carry on a business selling ice cream and thus secured the income to care and bring up her children. She says that she still lives in a small house in Nittambuwa and that it was the house which was brought to that status by deceased Dasun's legal wife, that school teacher with whom he had developed a love affair for a period of 13 years from schooldays. She also said that she is surprised about him for having left his wife who contributed with such dedication and that she was equally surprised about the actress who changed him after his marriage.
Dasun's dead body is presently lying in a private funeral parlour in Gampaha and the final rites are expected to be conducted at Malwatta General Cemetery.
