Mr. Sarath N. Silva, former Chief Justice yesterday forwarded a petition to Supreme Courts by filing it in court against amendments purported to be made to Provincial Council Election Bill inferring that clauses referring to women representation appearing at the last Provincial Council Election Bill have been removed and instead some
clauses have been introduced on the sly and that those are not relevant. Therefore, by the government passing it and by postponing Provincial Council Elections, fundamental rights of his as well as that of the public through such a process have been violated, the former Chief Justice has expressed. What his request is to conduct the Provincial Council Election under the previous Act.
