The President offers alms to Kiri Ammavaru.
The Pinkama was organized at the Abhayarama Vihare in Narahenpita to invoke blessings on the President. It was organized under the guidance of the Ven. Muruttettuwe Ananda Thera. President Rajapaksa arrived at the Vihare and joined in this Pinkama. Thereafter he visited the Patthini Devale and secured blessings. After the garlanding of the Patthini statue, the Maha Sangha chanted Seth Pirith and blessed the President.
The President also joined in the offering of alms to Kiri Ammavaru. The Ven. Muruttettuwe Ananda Thera had organized this Pinkama for the fourth occasion. A memento was presented to the President with the contribution of the prelate and health officials.
The Utthama Pooja book edited by two senior journalists Dayawansa Karunamuni and Sujith Kodithuwakku based on a concept of Minister lakshman Yapa Abeywardena to commemorate the President’s birthday, the assumption of office and the assumption of the Commonwealth Chair was handed over to the President. The President also declared open the newly constructed Sadevalova Rupitha Vihara Mandiraya at the Vihare premises.
