The New Straits Times of Malaysia has said that the world should display a more positive attitude towards Sri Lanka. It pointed out that no immediate decisions should be taken on the island nation.
In an article to the New Straits Times of Malaysia, journalist John Thio emphasized that foreigners and those who expect progress in Sri Lanka should patiently look at the country. Ferocious incidents may take place during a war. Such things had happened in Sri Lanka. The Malaysian paper asserted that the forward march of a nation cannot be expected until justice is meted out taking into consideration the injustice caused in the war. Whatever the issues the country encountered, the Sri Lankan Government has identified that the rationale for such problems are economic concerns.
The journalist mentioned that the Government has no intention of putting Jaffna into difficulty in a manner that would dim the economic desires of the country.
