A conspiracy to mislead the international community by indicating that there is a security lapse in the north has been exposed.
A Tamil youth who was said to have disappeared was located at a friend’s place. Police have also been informed of organized groups that go into hiding after lodging complaints at the Police stations that the concerned persons were missing. Their objective is to carry false propaganda to the international community through foreign media, seek assistance from the diaspora and to prevent the Tamils enjoying the ‘refugee status’ from returning to the country. Police have been able to locate a resident of Pointpedro following a complaint lodged at the police that he was missing. Making a statement to the Police the youth said that he wanted to obtain Australian citizenship. He said that his father assisted him. He went to a friend’s house in a bus and informed sister over the phone that he was abducted by four persons at the Mulaitivu town. That is why they lodged a complaint.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana that the Tamil politicians in the area alleged on several occasions, that members of the security forces abduct innocent youths in the area. However the 22 year old Suriyakumar was found in Mullaweli in Mulaitivu. It was found out that he wanted to hand over a copy of the complaint to the Australian High Commission to seek refugee status in Australia. The Police Media Spokesman said that he was arrested and strict action will be taken against those who betray the country in this manner.
