Another stage of the process to find solutions to the Indo-Lanka fisheries issues commenced in Chennai in Tamil Nadu today.
Talks to deliberate on the fisheries issues between India and Sri Lanka were recently held in India with the participation of the Fisheries Ministers of the two countries. As a result freedom was granted to fishermen of the two countries. Another stage of the discussions commenced in Chennai this morning.
The talks were held with the participation of the Special Representative Shiv Darshan Singh appointed to inquire into the Indo Lanka fisheries issues. Representatives including Tamil Nadu Fisheries Minister K.A. Jeyapal joined in these talks. 15 officials including Fisheries Director General Nimal Hettiarachchi represented Sri Lanka at the discussions. The talks dwelt at length on many matters including a strategy for which solutions can be found to cooperation and traditional heritage issues.
