China says Sino-Sri Lankan ties are very strong. China reiterated that it will not hesitate to consolidate Sri Lanka self-respect, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
China’s vice- President Li Yuanchao said so when Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris called on him in Beijing. Endorsing equality and mutual cooperation, the Chinese Vice President and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi pointed out that China had elucidated its attitude in respect of matters such as human rights in Sri Lanka. Expressing their full trust that Sri Lanka had the ability to prepare its clear journey on behalf of its people, they strongly deplored the use of human rights as a tactic to interfere in internal affairs of a country.
Referring to special facts mentioned in the Mahinda Chinthana Future Vision, the Chinese Vice President said that it would be a strong foundation to fulfil the aspirations of the Sri Lankans.
In the meantime the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry told the media yesterday that China does not endorse other countries interfering in internal issues of Sri Lanka.
