Fully fledged houses for dwellers living in houses with less facilities

The housing flats with all basic facilities, which are under construction for dwellers living in houses with the least facilities, are blessing to them.

Dwellers in Wanathamulla have accused those who are against the moves to provide fully-fledged houses to them as traitors whose aims are to achieve parochial political objectives.

The programme of giving fully fledged houses for habitats with less facilities located within the Colombo urban environment was mooted under the guidance of President Rajapaksa. This programme is progressing successfully under the guidance of Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. The Government decided to launch the Housing Flats Project comprising 718 units on behalf of the dwellers of 34, 43 and 54 estates in Wanathamulla with the intention of inheriting to them a permanent house with all facilities.

These dwellers are already embroiled in a number of issues. Flood threats. The lack of a system for the flow of unclean water, dilapidated houses and the dengue menace are among the main issues that they are confronted with. The residents said that these house which are unsuitable for human shelter had surfaced many social problems. However political conspirators are engaged in a process of paralyzing the programme of granting the houses which are being built with all facilities on behalf of these families. The people of Wanathamulla said they totally deplore the actions of persons who are raising their voices against this project which would provide much relief to them and also their children.

They expressed their gratitude to the Government for relief that is being provided to them.
