Prizes and certificates have been awarded to winners of competitions held to select stone sculptors for the wall that is being erected around the Sandahiru Seya in Anuradhapura.
This wall is coming up under the guidance of the President and the supervision of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. A competition to identify artists adept in skills who could make a vital contribution to traditional stones sculpture on the wall was held over the past few days.
The presentation of prizes and awards to the winners took place at the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development under the patronage of Gotabhaya Rajapaksa yesterday. Accordingly the winners can now make a significant contribution to Sri Lanka’s religious and cultural heritage.
