The Presidential Commission probing into disappearances is ready to hold its public sittings in Batticaloa. Commission Secretary H.W. Gunadasa said that evidence will be recorded next month in respect of complaints received from areas such as Kattankudy and Manmunai in the Batticaloa District.
Mr. Gunadasa said that the next recording of evidence will take place in Batticaloa from the 06th to the 09th of next month. The evidence will be gathered from around 200 complainants within the Kattankudy and Manmunai Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Batticaloa District. The members of the Commission including its Chairman will record the evidence.
In addition the public can secure information on the proceedings of the Commission from a website. The Commission’s Secretary said that this website will be launched at the Commission’s office on the 20th of this month at 10 am.
