A group of 100 Islamic devotees from the Eastern Province has left for Mecca from Mattala.
Hitherto, Islamic devotees had to come to the Katunayake Airport to leave on pilgrimages to Mecca. But this time a group of 100 Islamic devotees from the Eastern Province left for Mecca from the Mattala Mahinda Rajapaksa International Airport.
When travelling to Mecca, these pilgrims hitherto had to come to the Katunayake International Airport a day earlier. But these devotees referred to the convenience they enjoyed by travelling from Mattala as it takes only about four hours to reach the Airport from their homes.
