Sarath Dharmasiri’s “Suvisi Vivarana” film has been honoured with the Golden Award at the Fourth SAARC Film Festival.
The Fourth SAARC Film Festival was held at the cinema hall of the State Film Corporation. 22 films representing South Asian countries were presented for the Festival. The film “Suvisi Vivarana” directed by Sarath Dharmasiri and adjudged as the best film was presented with the Golden Award.
The Film ‘Saanguru’ presented by Nepal won the Silver Award while the film “Igili” presented by the Maldives bagged the Bronze Award. “Makra” presented by India won the Award for the Best Short Film. Ismail Rashid who played the leading role in the “Igili” film received the Best Actors Award while Sharima Fanta of the film “Jola” presented by Nepal won the Best Actress Award.
Sarath Dharmasiri received the Best Director’s Award. The Jury’s Special Award was given to the film “Samige Kathawa.” Among those present at the Award Festival was Senior Minister Athauda Seneviratne.
