The debris of a helicopter has been recovered from the Chalai sea bed. The Sri Lanka Navy discovered debris of the helicopter, believed to have crashed several years ago and belonging to the Air Force, in seas east of Chalai.
The operation to retrieve the debris was carried out on the advice of Navy Commander Vice Admiral Jayantha Colombage and the guidance of Northern Naval Commander Rear Admiral Sarath Dasanayake.
The discovery was made during a search operation carried out by a team of personnel from the Northern Naval Command using the “Ranajaya” vessel. The debris of the helicopter has been brought to the Kankesanthurai area. A special team from the Sri Lanka Air Force has come to Kankesanthurai to conduct investigations regarding the discovery of the helicopter debris.
