Customs have recovered six kilograms of gold from the possession of an air passenger who had arrived at the Airport from Singapore. The value of haul is 30 million rupees. Customs Director at the Katunayake International Airport Deepal Siribaddana said comprehensive investigations are being carried out into the recovery seizure of the gold.
Mr. Siribaddana said that an Indian national who had arrived in the island on Flight UL 307 from Singapore and taken into custody from the Migration terminal by the Customs, as he had the ticket to travel to India tomorrow. He possessed six gold slabs weighing one kilogram each. He said that the Customs are continuing with its investigations into the recovery of the gold. He said that the value of the gold was 30 million rupees.
