The Eiyamporuwa Maha Vihare at Madiwela in Battaramulla has organized a series of Pinkamas to invoke blessings on the President, the Government, the Defence Secretary and the heroic soldiers.
The series of Pinkamas was organized under the guidance of the Chief Incumbent of the Vihare, the Ven Aluthnuwara Sumanatissa Thera in view of the birthday of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa today. A major contribution was made to this Pinkama by the Ven. Walpola Piyananda Thera, the Chief Incumbent of the Lanka Vihare in the United States. Alms were offered to 100 members of the Maha Sangha and Buddhist nuns this afternoon with the participation of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Mrs. Rajapaksa. The Almsgiving Pinkama was held under the guidance of the Ven. Ittepane Dhammalankara Thera.school gear and uniforms were distributed among the children on the sidelines of the event.
Meanwhile a perahera paraded the streets from the Talawatugoda grounds to the Eiyanporuwa Vihare last night.
