Minister Basil Rajapaksa visited the International Investment and Trade exposition held at the folk art centre in Battaramulla this morning.
He exposition has been organised by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce on the advice of Minister Basil Rajapaksa to create awareness on the local industries, agriculture and other indigenous art and craft in the local and foreign industrialists and buyers. It was inaugurated today under the patronage of Minister Basil Rajapaksa. Deputy Minister Lakshman Wasantha Perera welcomed the Minister. A number of Ministers and Parliamentarians participated in the occasion.
Speaking at the occasion Minister Basil Rajapaksa stated that CHOGM provides not only political benefits but economic benefits as well. He said that the exposition is being held aiming tourism, export and investment opportunities. He said that Sri Lanka can be proud of the products on display.
The exposition consists of 850 stalls and provides the novel
experience to local and foreign businessmen. According to the organizing committee, the exhibition premises can be accessed from the Japan Friendship Road. The agricultural and plantation areas have created much enthusiasm in the visitors. Discussions are being held daily on investment opportunities for buyers and businessmen. Parliamentarian Malini Fonseka participated in the function held this morning to name the Bandura flower after her. The exhibition will be continued tomorrow.
