The Bodu Bala Sena held a media briefing recently strongly deploring the statement made by Tamil National Alliance Parliamentarian Sridharan lionizing the dead tiger chief Velupillai Prabhakaran.
National Organizer the Ven. Vitharandeniye Nanda Thera and General Secretary the Ven. Galagoda Atte Gnanasara Thera, expressing views at the news conference held at the Bodu Bala Sena Operations Office emphasized that the law in respect of persons who embolden separatism should be strictly enforced.
The Ven. Vitharandeniye Nanda Thera said that before three months had passed since the assumption of office of the political front of the terrorist outfit has embarked on an operation with the support of the international community to push the country back to separatism. MP Sridharan who had entered Parliament after given a pledge to respect the constitution has described Prabhakaran as a hero and glorified him. The prelate said that they vehemently condemn this statement. He called on the Government to take legal action against him for contravening the Constitution.
The Ven. Galagoda Atte Gnanasara Thera mentioned that it is very essential to force the Government to take action against those who are encouraging, making statements in breach of the constitution. While totally condemning the statement made by Sridharan, the prelate said that it is not a good example if those who took oaths to heed the constitution, are engaged in an attempt to divide the country.
