Thilini Imalka working in a Ratmalana factory .... in custody!

Thilini Imalka who was connected to the incident of assaulting a youth at Wariapola bus-stand was taken into custody by Wariyapola Police this afternoon.

It was after receiving a medical report that the said youth who was admitted to hospital suffering from some damage to his ear after which she was asked to give a statement by going to Wariyapola Police today (27).

She had been employed at a factory in Ratmalana area and after she had gone home to Wariyapola in the weekend and was returning to Ratmalana in the company of a friend at Wariyapola bus-stand she was subjected to annoyance on by a youth near the women's toilet on which occasion in response she had reprimanded him and had beat him.

Though this assault was of a minor nature, the incident which had been videoed and released across the internet created public perturbation which resulted as a consequence of the incidence. The family life of the youth was disrupted while the youth and the girl had to face social discrimination in the process.

After the youth was hospitalized it came to be known that he was suffering from ear injury, and the police took action as they had received sufficient evidence in this respect.

The girl was notified by Mount Lavinia Police to come to Wariyapola Police to face an inquiry into the youth's complaint because she had been lodging close to the Ratmalana factory. After she was notified about this by Mount Lavinia Police, she had been to Wariapola Police on which occasion a statement had been recorded from her and she was taken under police custody, informing her that the incident would be directed to judicial authorities.

In the meantime, the youth known as Selva had been admitted to Wariyapola Hospital saying that he was suffering from an ailment in his left ear and was subsequently transferred to Kurunegala Teaching Hospital,it was learned.

It is understood that on behalf of the girl's Rights some NGOs too have come forward. She had forwarded a separate statement to the conciliation chambers about the incident which took place at the bus-stand.

The idea conveyed by the girl to the media initially in this connection was: "What happened there .... those who were there know. I had a look at the net yesterday .... it was shown there in a very dirty way. A lot of boys are angry about that scene of what happened. They don't know of what really happened. A lot of boys are angry with me. But saying so,nobody has gone to the extent of even laying a hand on me ... because the law is tight. I was told to go to police. I came away thinking of that boy. I was on my way to Colombo. Everyone looking at that video will see what sort of a boy that is. He had taken some intoxicants so much that he was so intoxicated that he couldn't stand straight. I can do something like that .... for my safety".

While the girl is under police custody at present, legal action would be instituted in the future.

Signs that Wariyapola ear-clouts heading for courtsYouth to hospital .... girl to police Investigation to search person who sent video to internet

The incident of a girl clouting a youth on the ear recently at Wariyapola bus-stand created a sensation on the internet and though it appeared to come to a close in its early stages, by now it has gone far and appears to go further as to take legal action.

As such, after the incident, Robertdasage Chandradasa alias Selva admitted himself to hospital about 3 weeks later saying that he had developed an ailment in the ear because of the girl clouting his ear. He had done so because it would make things easy for him to take legal action after securing a medical report on having been admitted to hospital.

In the process, the girl Thilini Imalka who was at the centre of the incident where she had reprimanded the youth concerned and had dealt slaps on his face continuously had been informed to report to Wariyapola Police today (27), Wariyapola Police reports. This request had been made on the grounds of the complaint lodged by the youth to Wariyapola Police after facing the assault.

While it was reported that this girl is employed in Colombo it was also learned that she was hiding in the house or has left the house and gone elsewhere. On inquiries made by the media, the youth alone had consented to confront the media while the girl had not. On the alternative, she had resorted only to restricting herself to short messages on the phone and had provided information in that manner.

The OIC of Wariyapola Police had mentioned that it would be necessary for future legal action to secure evidence by the police from those who were present at the bus-halt at the time blows on the face were dealt on the youth and also the person who videoed this incident.

Wariyapola Thilini is not getting out of the house?

Thilini Imalka who is a resident of Wariyapola Wetiya village who was seen on a video assaulting a young man as appearing on the internet recently is reported to be hiding without stepping out of the house to escape from social accusation. This was revealed when a weekend newspaper tried to contact her. When there was no possibility of

contacting her in person, the newspaper was able to do so with the assistance of her mother over the phone. This is how 24 year old Thilini Imalka unveiled her story: "Without knowing this story properly I am being subjected to accusation in a strange way by using the internet. That day that fellow behaved in the most disgusted manner. I and a friend of mine came to go to Colombo. That fellow asked for my phone number and told some disgusting things. He said that it was a simple thing to find the number and said so many things that a girl couldn't listen to. Later when we got into the Colombo-bound bus also he said dirty things. It was only when we couldn't bear it anymore that I and my friend went and spoke to him seriously. It was only then that I didn't know that I lifted my hand at him. But somebody had videoed a part of this scene, giving the impression that it was to an innocent person that I am hitting".

This is what Thilini's mother said on this occasion: "Because of this incident there's great fear about the security of my daughter. Because of that, she's always inside the house. Not only to my daughter, I appeal to authorities to make Wariyapola a town which is free from intoxicated Don Juans where all daughters could walkabout in freedom".

A cap which I used for about 15 years. I put it on today and came here because also it is valuable o me .... it's on this occasion that I'll be able to wear it for the last time.

Lady doctor dies during beautification

Children's hospital lady doctor who wanted to become attractive ....from Nuga Sevena doctor .... meets with death!

Dr. Priyangi Aluthge (47) of Colombo Lady Ridgeway Hospital who visited a well-known beauty parlour where plastic surgery was carried out was being prepared for a plastic surgery yesterday when in the process she met with sudden death as a result of an injection becoming poisonous.

She had gone to this Cosmetic Surgery Clinic with the intention of attending to her wrinkles on her skin under her eyes and to improve her skin to look fairer. She had discussed her requirements with

Dr. Priangi who is the mother of 2 children lives down Senanayaka Road, Nawala and serves at the plastic surgery unit herself at the Colombo Lady Ridgeway Hospital. She had visited this beauty parlour which is situated at a building consisting of 6 floors at Visakha Road yesterday at about one in the afternoon. To prepare her for the surgery concerned, on the knowledge of the doctor, she had been injected with an anti-biotic around 3 in the afternoon. However, after the administration of the injection it had proved allergic and she had faced many discomforts and subsequently after developing a cough had shouted out in pain. At this juncture Dr. Nimal Gamage had tried his best to treat her condition, but Dr. Priyangi who had been fatal as a result of this injection happened to pass away within a space of about 10 minutes.

Dr. Nimal Gamage who became alarmed under these circumstances then informed the police and investigations were carried out in this respect. Coroners who visited the scene attended to further investigations on the body at about 7 in the night.

Subsequent to information collected by the police, on an order given by Aluthkade Courts, Dr. Nimal Gamage was taken into custody by police last night and further interrogations are proceeding in this connection.

Dr. Nimal Gamage had stated that he had secured his MBBS Degree in Sri Lanka and that he is a doctor who has had a special training in America and that he is a member of the Medical Council, confirming his identity. The doctor has expressed across his website that prior to this he had carried out about 1500 similar surgeries.

This clinic had operated under the name Cosmetic Surgery Clinic during a period of about 3 years at Visakha Road, Bambalapitiya on the 3rd floor of the said-building and the treatment given there to bring about a smoother and fair skin, to tighten the abdomen by treatment of stitching, enlarging breasts, bringing beauty to the face, hands and the removal of fat etcetera were advertised in the most eye-catching manner.

Certain surgeries which have to be conducted after spending a large sum of money overseas were conducted here at this clinic at a lesser fee and in order to derive publicity during the process of running this clinic, Dr. Nimal Gamage had quite frequently on a number of occasions appeared on national television programmes such as Nuga Sevena and health programmes across Sirasa Channel, thus presenting programmes of attractive treatment methods and procedures to confirm his activities and to win the trust of his customers.

For this very reason he had become popular among ladies of the elite class, artistes and models. A short time ago before this, certain alternate newspapers had brought forward an allegation that this doctor does not possess enough qualifications to carry out plastic surgery in Sri Lanka and for the purpose of countering this allegation Dr. Nimal Gamage had mentioned that he would take legal action against those newspapers and had even gone to the extent of displaying his MBBS certificate by scanning copies of his certificates confirming his approval from the Medical Council, across the website.

According to the scanned copies he mentions of, he had obtained his MBBS degree in the year 1982.

The deceased lady doctor having served the plastic surgery unit of Lady Ridgeway Hospital was aware of allergic conditions of drugs as well as of the qualifications of Dr. Gamage. It was under such conditions that this accident had taken place.

Bambalapitiya Police are conducting inquiries regarding the incident.

2013 Economics question paper .... a copy of London A/L Inquiries on President's orders

Certain students, teachers' associations have made allegations that the current A/L Economics examination paper is confusing while some of the questions are interpreted in the syllabus in a strange or unfamiliar manner. However, the Commissioner of Examinations responded saying that everything was once again checked and that there are no errors to be observed.

But according to an exposure of the Rivira Sunday newspaper yesterday, 21 out of the 50 multiple choice questions have been point-blank copied from the old London Economics questions and have been confirmed as incorrectly presented.

The Hon. President has ordered Minister of Education, Mr. Bandula Gunawardena yesterday (10) to conduct an immediate inquiry about this revelation and forward a report to him.

21 questions which were seen in the London A/L Economics question papers from 2007 - 2012 have been included in the A/L first paper of the 2013 Economics paper.

It is also understood that according to the order issued by the Hon. President, the Minister of Education,Mr. Bandula Gunawardena has requested for a written explanation yesterday (10) from the Commissioner of Examinations to forward a report in this connection within a week's time.

It is learned that steps had been taken to oust the Professor who was in charge of the Economics question paper for sometime from this year's (2014) Economics paper where preparation of the paper is concerned.

This is an incident which brought a black mark on the history of A/L examinations in this country.
