Medical student who came to rob Sampath Bank had written ....

on bank slip 'I will shoot you!" But nabbed after taking away 5 lakhs!

After the recent Colombo Sampath Bank Super Branch hold up, yet another Sampath Bank Super
Branch in Panadura was to be robbed last evening. However the attempt proved futile.

This person who is said to have arrived in the island after having pursued his medical studies overseas has attempted to carry out this hold up in a rather peculiar way. He had written a threatening note on a bank slip and had handed it over to the lady cashier. The cashier who was frightened had on that occasion given him 5 lakhs of money. Later when the suspect had beat a retreat from the bank, the cashier had promptly advised the security unit and later a police constable who was on duty nearby had managed to get hold of him.

This person who entered the Sampath Bank Super Branch in Panadura yesterday (28) around 5.30 in the evening was a resident of Maligawatta and after studying Medicine in a foreign country had arrived in the land recently, it was revealed later. He had written, "I have a gun with me .... if the alarm signal is rung ... I'll shoot!" he had written on the bank slip in English.

When running with the bundle of cash sum of 5 lakhs, an officer of the Traffic Division was able to take him into custody with the aid of some three-wheel drivers; but it later came to be known that he has had no weapon in his possession.

'Big Boss' who terrified the whole of Royal .... in courts because of a shot on the ear!

'Big Boss' who terrified the whole of Royal ....

in courts because of a shot on the ear!

An Advanced Level student of Royal College was produced in court last Monday over an incident of
assault.

This student who terrorised the Principal, teachers and students saying that he had connections with the underworld appeared in the school under the the nickname 'Big Boss'. This student who is supposed to be the son of a former Chairman of a provincial council member of Embilipitiya had entered class 9 of Colombo Royal College from a school in Embilipitiya. This student who says that he comes to school at the time he wishes to, used to make underworld-type of threats to whoever inquires about it, it was reported. The student concerned has on a number of occasions even assaulted teachers who happened to make students kneel down; but nobody had dared to take action against him.

Whatever it is, after assaulting two students who had high connections and were of the same class as his in Royal College recently was taken into custody. On a complaint that he had dealt a blow on the ear serious enough to damage the ear of a former Deputy Minister's son and of a District Judge's son was produced in court on Monday for that offence.

The replies 'Big Boss' gave to certain questions posed by Chief Magistrate Mr. Gihan Pilapitiya are of a humorous nature.

Chief Magistrate: Whom do you know in the underworld?
Suspect student: Don't know anybody.

Chief Magistrate: Who of the underworld is in remand?
Suspect student: Dematagoda Chaminda, Navy Ruwan are there.

Chief Magistrate: With whom do you like to stay with in jail .... with Dematagoda Chaminda or with Ruwan?
Suspect student: Don't like to stay with anyone!

This student who was living in Embilipitiya had been admitted to Royal College on the influence of his father who was the Chairman of the provincial council. Whatever it is, as a result of an accident last year this Chairman had passed away. At present the student is living with one of his uncles in Colombo. After appearing in court the Chief Magistrate instructed that a report from a Psychiatrist be forwarded about the suspect student. This student who is to appear for the Advanced Level examination in the year 2016 was advised by the Magistrate to attend school at the appropriate time and in addition issued an order for him to report at Kurunduwatta Police Station every day of the week after finishing school. The Magistrate finally warned him to refrain from acts of this nature henceforth under any circumstances.

Though Kondaya fell in love with a dozen girls ....  they all refused

Approached house 4 times ....

to kidnap Seya!

Dunesh Priyashan alias Kondaya who is presently under police custody regarding the murder of Seya Sandewmi of Kotadeniyawa had once again made a lengthy confession last Friday and on that occasion he had even proceeded to explain the information further which he had confessed previously; this time in greater detail.
who is presently under police custody regarding the murder of Seya Sandewmi of Kotadeniyawa had once again made a lengthy confession last Friday and on that occasion he had even proceeded to explain the information further which he had confessed previously; this time in greater detail.

As such, he had said that he had been waiting for almost an year to kidnap the girl and rape her. He had also said that he had come near the window of her house on four occasions with the motive of abducting her and those attempts proved futile because the door had been locked. On every such moment as he was unsuccessful he said that he had turned back and gone and it was only on the fifth time that he managed to get this chance. On the day of the crime he had been vigilant for several hours waiting to enter the house and had spent time in that garden, watching everything happening inside the house and thus moving around and hiding in the dark. If the door was locked with the key in front he had said that even on that day he would not get a chance of abducting Seya and though he had seen that the window was open, he had decided that it would be a risk to enter that way.

Kondaya has admitted that he had to murder Seya before subjecting her to rape. After abducting her, Kondaya further admitted that he had raped the dead body for several hours. On several occasions when he had loitered around, Kondaya said that he became strongly attracted to many beautiful female children and that he was forced to murder Seya because others around would be awoken from their sleep if she made a fuss and thus he would not be able to fulfill his desire, he had said.

On previous instances too when Seya was sleeping, Kondaya who had been gazing at her after opening the window, he had developed feelings of romance for her in secret. Even when she had been watching the television with the others in the hall of the house, he had confessed to the police that he had been casting his eye on her, hiding himself in the process. As a result Kondaya reveals that the necessity that overcame him to achieve his desire too became intense also because of the scenes he so witnessed. He further mentioned that he did not think of anything else other than achieving that desire, during the past few days.

While the CID is continuing the interrogation with the suspect, it has been revealed that though he had tried to get himself attached to several girls he had been unsuccessful and therefore this mental condition has overcome him.

The DNA Report of Kondaya who is now in remand has still not been released and with that scientific evidence the police hope to condemn him guilty of this offence and to mete out the punishment from the courts.

Alleged killer of boy arrested in Panagoda

The sinful criminal who killed 10 year old child ....

 to appease revenge on father!

The sinful man who murdered the 10 year old boy by killing him by cutting off his limbs with a sharp instrument in a lonely house near a granite workshop in Kapurugoda area in Panagoda had explained his reason for it saying that he had done this to avenge the child's father because of spiting him.

Well aware of the idea that he would be able to get away scot free from this murder too which has been committed on purpose being released after having been arrested in relation to acts of homicide before this also for the reason that capital punishment has not been enforced. After committing the murder the suspect had fled the place; however on an operation conducted by the police the suspect was cordoned when he had been walking in Bandarawatta area in Biyagama.

He is a resident of Kotelawala, Kaduwela and known by the name of Ella Liyanage Abraham Perera (50). The suspect who has been strongly addicted to drugs is a notorious criminal in the island whose name has been listed in police records in connection with a number of crimes. The suspect who had killed a young man in Nawagamuwa area before this had been remanded over many a crime including housebreaking in the year 2007 and has now come back to freedom once again. Later on he had been appearing under various names and had lived in Panagoda area. There he had engaged himself in a quarry workshop and about 2 years before this, a part of the suspect's genital organs had to be removed as a result of a blast that had taken place at the quarry. This person who had not even entered into a marriage had been living with a terrible vengeance towards society.

It was a child named Kavindu Devinda Kapuruge who was living in Kapurugoda, Panagoda who was subjected to murder as a consequence of revenge. Kavindu who had been schooling in grade 5 at Parakrama Vidyalaya in Panagoda was expecting results of his Year 5 scholarship examination. On the day of the incident last Friday because of rain Kavindu had not gone to school and had stayed back at home. His mother had left home to hand over a parcel of food to his elder brother. Though Kavindu had remained at home with his father, the father too had later gone to the farmhouse. Kavindu's father who returned home after 10 minutes had noticed that the child was not at home and had searched all over for him and had even told the neighbours about it and began to search further. Having noticed the lonely house which was situated close to the site of the quarry being locked up and having tried to open the door which had been to no avail had therefore given up the idea and instead had once more begun to make a further search as to what happened to Kavindu. However much he searched the child was not to be found and the crowd including the father had broken open the said door when they were finally able to find the dead body of the child hacked to death with the neck, hands and feet severed.

The suspect had confessed to the police in this manner: "From the time I came to work at the quarry, the child's father kept spiting me. What I wanted was to give him the most unbearable pain which he could never bear. When I went home the child was watching television. I went inside the house after waiting till the home-people of the child went out. Later I brought the child to the lonely house and cut him up into pieces".

The quarry which belonged to Kavindu's father's younger brother was where the suspect had been employed and he had been staying in that lonely house near the quarry itself. The suspect had planned out this murder for a period of time and after going to Godagama area had purchased a machette 3 months ago and had been keeping it hidden inside the house where he was staying. On noticing the mother and father of the child going out on the 25th, he had gone to the boy's house and had told the child, "Puthe .... there are some coins .... let's go, I'll give them to you" and thus duped the child and brought him to this lonely house. Later, having shown some coins in a small pit prepared inside the house, the suspect had instructed the child as to how to get those coins after digging for them.

While the child was in the process of digging the pit to take the coins, the suspect had brought the machette and dealt a blow with it on the neck of the child to be severed from his body. Subsequently he had chopped the child's body into pieces and after throwing away the machette he had got into a three-wheeler and beat a retreat.

After the suspect was nabbed by the police when he was on the way to show the machette used in the murder, he had slipped and fallen into an old quarry pit. At that point the suspect's feet were seriously injured from a rock that had come tumbling down and he was admitted yesterday (27) to Homagama Hospital and transferred to the Colombo National Hospital.

The suspect who was under treatment for serous injury is under treatment at the hospital with police protection and was afterwards taken to courts. The suspect who was thus taken into custody has been instructed by Homagama Magistrate, Mr. Y.R.B. Nelundeniya to be remanded until the 7th of next month.

This woman who is the mother of two children had gone to pluck tea leaves with two other women in the morning hours and the other women had handed over the tender tea leaves; but the woman who was subjected to murder had not returned. Robbery at Sampath Bank, Colombo, Super Branch

Helmet-clad lonely intruder who comes to ....

Sampath Bank, Dharmapala Mawatha

Robs 55 lakhs!

A person arming himself with face covered had at 7.10 in the morning yesterday (27) broken into the Super Branch of Sampath Bank down Dharmapala Mawatha near the Public Library in Colombo which incidentally is open 365 days and after assaulting the security guards had in turn threatened members of the bank staff and had later fled after looting a sum of 55 lakhs.
This special bank branch which is open even on Poya Day is open from 7 in the morning till 10 in the night. On this particular day at 7 in the morning the bank was opened and a part of the money was removed from the safe and it was being counted to reserve the cash necessary for the day's transactions at which moment this robbery was launched.

The robber who had come on a motor bicycle had been covering his face with a helmet and was clad in a jacket and Denim trouser. In his possession had been a travelling bag too. The two security guards who noticed that the man was trying to enter the bank with his face covered had promptly asked him to remove the head-covering and jacket. At that moment instead of doing what he was told he had shown the weapon in his hand and had even dealt a blow with the butt of the weapon and gained entry to the bank. Maybe because it was the time the bank was opened early that morning, the guards had no weapons in their possession at that moment.

Subsequently he had shown the weapon to everyone in the bank and had then frightened them and had dumped into his bag 35 lakhs which was in charge of the Manager and 20 lakhs at the cashier counter. On that occasion as a worker who was behind had at that very instance pressed the alarm-button, the siren sound had spread all round the bank and with that sound the robber had got upset and fled. In fact as he had got confused and scared over the siren-sound, he had forgotten to set his hands on a sum of Rs. 20 lakhs lying beside the cashier's counter. Anyway while fleeing like this it was observed that he had been even calling someone over the phone as well.

At the time this robbery took place there had been 11 members of the staff there in the bank on duty, it is understood. The police suspect that an employee of the bank itself has operated as an accomplice in this robbery. Though the figure of the suspect is marked on the CCTV camera fixed in the bank, it had not been possible to identify him because he had covered his face totally. He had worn the helmet only after draping a handkerchief across his face, the CCTV provides evidence. The CID Colombo and the Slave Island Police are conducting investigations in this regard.

"I went because mother could not go ..."

-- Daham Sirisena explains reason why he had to attend UN Assembly

When the inaugural moment of the United Nations Assembly was held some days ago, the fact that the President's son too was seated with the group who represented Sri Lanka motivated certain media to publish a criticism about it. Some had compared it with the former President Mahinda and son Namal combination. Regarding the criticism President Maithripala's son Daham Sirisena had made a clarification yesterday across his Facebook Page. What is mentioned there is as follows:
"Friends, do you know about the word 'nepotism?' Its meaning is, someone who lets his powers be used on the children, relations. It conveys specially granting employment. Look openly .... this frequently has happened in Sri Lanka. Some have interpreted my American tour as one such. They criticise that I misuse father's powers.

Friends, relax your mind and listen to me. Though my mother was to participate on this journey she was unable to do so. As this was notified, I got an official invitation from America to fill that void as another member of the family. Because of that I went there. Secondly, because I joined on this journey I got the opportunity of attending the STG Conference the purpose of which was the prosperity of the country.

I fail to understand in which way how this tour of mine would not be beneficial for the country. I can't understand how the country collapses because of that. I ask of you not to compare the former regime and our family. We are quite different from them. When I joined the youth conference what the organisers said was to make more young people of Sri Lanka participate in this, in future. The positive response they gave towards us too is something that we should be happy about".
