Vidya of Jaffna sexually abused ... for a blue video displaying a money-generating rape-video!

Vidya of Jaffna sexually abused ... for a blue video displaying a money-generating rape-video!

The incident where 17 years old schoolgirl Vidya studying at Punkudithi Maha Vidyalaya in Jaffna was kidnapped in the year 2015 and was subjected to collective rape being murdered subsequently which was an incident that created a big uproar. What was mentioned in reports published at that time was that a relative who fell out with Vidya's mother over an argument between the two of them ended up in an act of revenge where her daughter was collectively raped by this person engaging the services of another party. But it was revealed in courts yesterday that this act of collective rape and subsequent murder was committed for the purpose of creating a blue video, which activity is in operation on an international level as revealed at the hearing of the case of which investigations are underway.
person engaging the services of another party. But it was revealed in courts yesterday that this act of collective rape and subsequent murder was committed for the purpose of creating a blue video, which activity is in operation on an international level as revealed at the hearing of the case of which investigations are underway.

Parts of the said video is supposed to have been marketed in Switzerland, it has been revealed. Acting Attorney General Mr. Dappula de Livera revealed yesterday about this that the rape scenes had been captured on video and then marketed and also that female children and young girls in South Asia are being subjected to sexual abuse and that those contents after being taped are being marketed by a profit-generating business which happens to be at the root of this racket. This information has further been confirmed when investigations have found that an underhand international mode of transactions were in operation for release of the individuals who had committed this criminal offence after they were apprehended, which information had leaked out in the process. Mr. de Livera further expressed yesterday that an inquiry has been launched in this connection with those involved in trying to protect those responsible for this crime and that there had even been an attempt to throw investigations under the carpet for a deal of Rs. 20 million.

9 persons of the 12 suspects arrested with respect to the crime of abduction of the schoolgirl studying at Jaffna Punkudithiv Maha Vidyalaya on May 13 in the year 2015 for having murdered this girl after being collectively raped were served indictments by the Attorney General. Mr. de Livera quoting certain other points further said, "It is for the first time in the history of the island that a case is heard in the presence of a bench of judges comprising 3 judges. Schoolgirl Vidya has been abducted according to a premeditated plan and then sexually molested and finally murdered. This murder has been committed at about 7.30 in the morning of May 13 in the year 2015.

The 9th suspect of the murder can be identified as having organised the crime. It has been tried to market the said video after videoing the rape proceedings. Though he had been here, he is someone who has attained Swiss citizenship. He has arrived here on and off from Switzerland. While being in Switzerland he has got together with 6 suspects and has preplanned this crime.

Female children and young girls of South Asia are being subjected to sexual abuse and after videoing the act it is being marketed at an exorbitant sum of money. Though the 9th suspect of the murder has sought the help of a head of police offering him Rs. 20 million requesting him to be released. The 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th defendants have been involved in raping the student. They have raped her in turn. The 5th and 6th suspects are responsible for having taped the rape scenes from their mobile phones. Subsequently that video has been sold to a foreigner. Attempt to secure the said video has been futile. However, evidence to the effect that the video was marketed could of course be secured.

The 2nd, 3rd and 6th suspects have raped the student inside a lonely house. After that, the student's body has been carried to where it was finally located and after her hands and feet were tied up, she was throttled and killed. The student has sustained injuries to her head. Maximum punishment should be meted out for this crime in accordance with the law. I believe that a decision should be pronounced where crimes of this nature would not rear its head once more".

Mercedes Benz driven by millionaire's 15 year old son somersaults in Vajira Road!

Mercedes Benz driven by millionaire's 15 year old son somersaults in Vajira Road!

A Mercedes Benz which on last 26th evening was travelling at a hectic speed coming from Colombo Thunmulla had taken a turn into Vajira Road at the same speed and finally skidded and ended up close to the pavement on the road ... finishing with a somersault. Fortunately as there had been no pedestrians on that part of the road at that time, no one has been injured in this accident.

Incidentally the individual who emerged from the driving-seat then in an upside-down state, was a
schoolboy of a tender age. Though he was not harmed in the process, police officers who had been posted on duty in charge of traffic regulations at that time had arrived on the scene to check the driver when they were baffled to come across a student who was just 15 years old and was even without a driving license. It was with a smile that he had told the police officers that he had desired to take to the wheel of the Benz his father had newly bought. So saying he had then wanted to return home ... without scant knowledge about traffic rules and regulations. When the police told him that he is to be taken into custody for offences of negligent driving and for being without a valid driving license he had then become upset and had begun to give telephone calls all over the place.

His father is supposed to be a millionaire businessman hailing from Kurunduwatta area and had spoken to police higher ups and other police officers, throwing his influence about requesting them to send his son home. Even Ministers and those of the affluent class have contacted Kurunduwatta Police and other police officers incessantly over this matter, it is understood. However the 15 year old schoolboy who failed to furnish a valid driving license was ultimately taken into custody by the police and after the boy's parents arrived at the police station they had made a pledge to produce him before courts after which he was released on police bail within the space of a few hours.

Who the said businessman has not been exposed by the police. Information that this Mercedes-type Benz vehicle bears the registered No. CAW 5445 and is one of the latest models manufactured in 2017 and has been taken on a leasing basis from Nations Trust Bank, is now revealed.

Eldest son notified before Kamburupitiya deaths occured: "You'll see our deaths!"

Eldest son notified before Kamburupitiya deaths occured: "You'll see our deaths!"

Police who are engaged in carrying out investigations on the incident where a father and 3 children have committed suicide hanging themselves bringing a shock to all those in Kamburupitiya area have come across certain documents indicating that all those deaths were carried out on the will of the deceased members of the family.

It was a father, 2 daughters and 1 son from a poverty-stricken family who had committed suicide. While the youngest son was a samanera, there is
an elder son who has already entered the Bhikku Sasana. It was a month ago that the wife had deserted her husband and children as a consequence of a domestic issue. Subsequently all work connected to the two daughters and management of the house had fallen on the shoulders of the father and thus it had been a difficult task for him to handle it single-handedly. The father has had no proper income and they had gone without food during the past few days, it was reported. In the meantime the youngest son who was handed over to the Sasana had come to the house some days before this macabre incident.

"We have no way of going to school. People are telling various stories. Father didn't eat or drink. Podi sadhu came home. We were in favour of the decision father took. You'll see the dead bodies of the three of us". The police were able to recover notes containing the above words written in a letter to their eldest brother who was a monk, before these deaths by one of the sisters.

The Thera Ransegoda Sudaththa the eldest son who has entered the Sasana and is residing in a temple in Ratnapura area having been informed about this tragedy had gone into a state of shock and after arriving at the house gave evidence in this connection and said that one of his sisters had contacted him over the phone and informed him that all of them were going to commit suicide but that he had not believed those words at that moment itself. However, on the phone call given the last time it had been mentioned that 'father was tying the hands of the other children and that all of them will be committing suicide' at which moment the thera had got upset. The referred to earlier document was located in a bag place on another tree nearby after the dead bodies were found hanging on a tree close to the yard of the house that went up in fire.

Though these letters were found written by the 3 children yesterday (27), what was suspicious is that these deaths apparently gave the impression that the act was preplanned. The letters bore the date of last 18th  and it is not clear whether a mistake was made in the date or whether those were written in advance. The police also recovered a letter written by the deceased father signed on top of a stamp to the effect making a request not to let his wife see his body.

As a result of this tragedy the whole family were destroyed and it is the mother who deserted and the 19 year old eldest child who were thus left. In this connection the 3 children, 14 year old other thera by the name of Ranpegoda Mangala, 16 year old Kaushalya Sewwandi, 10 year old Hiruni Sewwandi and 44 year old Pathiranage Priyantha the father who had committed suicide.

The police say that the hands of the 3 children were found tied from behind. It has been observed at inquiries that the children had been made to stand on a chair and after putting the noose round their necks had pulled the chairs away in the end. It was understood that the father had finally put an end to his life too by climbing a tree and putting the noose round his neck.  These deaths were observed when police received a telephone call to the 119 Police Emergency Unit day-before-yesterday (26) at about 9.45 in the night that a house is on fire in Beraliathura and when they proceeded to arrive at the location concerned and conducted investigations.

Malinga accepts guilt for having said 'Rilawa' to Dayasiri -- subjected to fine and probationary period!

Malinga accepts guilt for having said 'Rilawa' to Dayasiri -- subjected to fine and probationary period!

Malinga accepts guilt for having said 'Rilawa' to Dayasiri -- subjected to fine and probationary period!

Cricketer Lasith Malinga had been audacious enough to make a statement related to a simile that 'rilaw' have come to inquire into problems of nests of parrots thus criticising Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera while expressing various other problems related to him, and thereby bringing chagrin upon the minister. According to the agreement in force in existence between Sri Lanka Cricket and the government as it is not
possible to issue statements to the media without permission, disciplinary action was taken against Lasith Malinga.

The three-member committee of Sri Lanka Cricket met last evening and decided that Lasith Malinga has committed an offence and he too has accepted his guilt in that connection. He has apologised for having expressed comments to the media without proper sanction. He has begged pardon in that connection and therefore the punishment that should be meted out to him has thus been relaxed to some extent. As such, he has been subjected to a probationary period of 6 months on the understanding that there would be no pardon if he makes any such flaw in that respect in future.

Whatever it is, Lasith Malinga has been imposed a 50 per cent fine from the
first international match fee for which he takes part next time, according to the Sri Lanka Disciplinary Rules on operation. Tilanga Sumathipala, Chairman of Sri Lanka Cricket who addressed the media last afternoon said that no interference would be caused as a result for Lasth Malinga's participation in the tournament to be played with Zimbabwe in the near future.

The statement of Lasith Malinga which stands as reason for punishment is as follows:
'Only those who play cricket know about the game of cricket. That is why it's told, as when parrots are outside, 'rilaw' are in the hole. Because it is the parrot who knows how to make the nest. It's the parrot who has the necessity of making the nest. When 'rilaw' creeps into it and try to provide all sorts of answers, mistakes can be made. To bowl one ball we have to practise bowling about 1000 balls. Only a short period of about a second is available to take a decision. The decision taken during that period may come right or go wrong. But by being seated on a chair those decisions can be twisted about and all sorts of things can be said. But that is not justification in the game of Cricket. Before making such big talks, if there are obligations ... those must be fulfilled. Those who watch Cricket with amnesia can say that the ball was dropped after striking the belly. But we have seen number one players in the world dropping catches. Unfortunately it is at a crucial time that the catch was missed in that match. I came to hear big talks of blaming the players like ... the belly was too much and so forth. All these players have displayed their skills and through the selection committee joined the squad after obtaining the signature of the Sports Minister. That's how they participated for the Champions Trophy. It's from the Sports Minister that the final approval is secured".

"I didn't say anything ironically against him; I don't know the gossip which circulated around me no" -- reply given to media by Umali who stepped down from the stage

A news correspondent had questioned Umali when she got down from stage after she publicly made somewhat of a hint about a personal issue relating to her married actor Saranga when on stage at Raigam Tele Award ceremony some days back providing clues to the media of the main stream in connection with the publicity relayed only across gossip websites during the past regarding their separation after a mess up with another actor coming in between Saranga and Umali. On that
occasion she had responded by giving a wonderful reply.

What she has mentioned was that she did not say ianything in an ironical manner on stage and that as an actress she is frank. When questioned about gossip that spread around during the past period she had remarked that she does not watch gossip and therefore does not know anything about those and that she has no understanding of how to reply them and that she is able to respond only if asked about performing.

This is what she said:
* A story not spoken about by you was recited in a song there. Is anything there which you commented upon in an ironical way?
No ... I am a performing artiste. I am honest. I have nothing inside me and nothing outside. What is seen from my face is of course what is inside me. That is my mirror. That means it is I myself who reflects me. As such I entertain no ironies.

* During the past, rumours and gossip began to circulate between you and Saranga?
It's like this ... in society you can find groups utilising various types of media. Gossipers are one such group and they are those who make use of gossip or associate them. So I am not a person who associated this thing called gossip from those days upto now. Therefore (smiling sarcastically) ... to tell the truth I don't have material enough in my mind to provide an answer. I am not bound to or responsible to answer those or as to what gossip is.

But if I was to go among people in this society ... it's as an artiste. Whether it be from performing or singing or dancing ... I am bound to be responsible for the task of my creations only. So I am ready on any occasion to speak about things like how much I am dedicated for the task of my creation ... not only I, and also what type of co-operation was given by those who were involved in the creation.

Miserable father who hanged himself after hanging his 3 children sets fire to house!

An incident of a father who tied the hands of his 2 daughters and male child behind their backs and hanged them after which he himself had put the noose round is neck is reported from Kamburupitiya area.

The above incident was revealed on a tip-off received by the 119 that a house in Beraliathura in Kamburupitiya area was on fire last night (26); police visited the said place and made inquiries. Even at the moment police visited the scene the house concerned had already been totally destroyed by the
fire and dead bodies of these 2 daughters, the male child and the suspect-father were found hanging dead with the aid of a nylon fishing line which was tied to a bamboo placed across two trees in front of the house.

The suspect-father who has died is 44 year old Pathiranage Priyantha by name. The 2 deceased daughters are 16 year old Kaushalya Sewwandi and 10 year old Hiruni Sewwandi. The son of this suspect-father is a 14 year old samanera monk. It was understood that at the moment of this incident he had visited this house.

A certain domestic dispute that took place between the father and mother had been the cause for this tragedy and she had left home about a month before leaving the children and the husband which created a rage within him and resulted in turning him into an impulsive state of action. Further investigations are underway in connection with this incident.

Lucky Dias speaks about the broken marriage which remained a secret for a period of 16 years

Lucky Dias speaks about the broken marriage which remained a secret for a period of 16 years

Popular actor Lucky Dias who was married to an award-winning actress, now for the first time recorded the past memory of his marriage which went on the rocks. As a respect he has for that actress he has kept all information regarding that incident a secret so far, he said and after the illicit affair came to light he had separated from her and after a lapse of 10 years he had obtained divorce from her in the year 2011 and has kept the story away even from the media to prevent any harm being done, he has revealed. Below is that
explanation.
-------------------------------------------
Whatever it is, his beginning must be stated in condensed form. Wally Dias is Lucky Dias's father hailing from their initial place of birth, Kotte. He was a railway engineer. Neeta who made Gampaha her first place of birth happened to be a teacher by profession prior to her marriage. She even to-date bears both happiness and sorrow of Lucky who was the sole child in the family. It is 15 years since Lucky's father has died. The story of Lucky Dias who claims ownership to a life filled with luxury with Ananda Vidyalaya becoming his second parents, we shall now unfold from here.

* Shall we recall how you stepped into the field of Arts from your young age?
What my father wanted was to make me a lawyer. If I used this mouth in the direction of law ... something better than this would have been the outcome. Even from my small days my parents have provided me with a comfortable existence. But I was brought up in a fashion that I would be able to bear both happiness and suffering. Even from childhood I was very close to my uncle (mother's brother). I got my uncle's influence and affection in a very satisfactory manner. It was my uncle who was involved in the weaning ceremony. My mother too was someone who was skilled in music. As such, I also was bent on music. Because of that when I went ahead in music, my father used to scold me saying that carrying the guitar the whole time would not come right. Later on, he affiliated me to an advertising firm of Dr. Ananda Tissa de Alwis, the former Speaker who was a close friend of his. Those days I used to go to Rupavahini to hand over commercial advertisements. When on my way like that one day Parakrama Niriella having seen me invited me for 'Yashoravaya'. That is how I became 'Baladeva' without knowing a hang. After that I became the Most Popular Actor of that year itself and in the second year I became the Most Popular and Best Actor as well.

* Then you get married after gaining some status in the Field, is it?
Yes ... I have covered an appreciable journey in the Field.

* During that period you may have had romantic affairs, didn't you?
Yes ... before marriage I did have some love affairs during my young age. Those days ... love was totally different from love of the present day. Unsophisticated, loyal and romantic episodes of course. Schoolboy love dissolved during schooldays itself. There was a wonderful love with the girl whom I met after that. But her parents had made her marriage permanent to someone overseas even without her knowing. So with her marriage ... that love affair too came to a close. The love affair which followed thereafter was edging towards marriage. It was during that period when I was hoping for marriage that 'henahura' reared its head. My married wife was talking about her problems and started weeping and I felt a sense of grief and love. So because of that I even bade goodbye to my lover to whom I wanted to marry. Not being able to bear up our separation, she suffered. To say how much that innocent girl suffered ... as time passed by she became sick and had an untimely death. I can't bear it up even now.

* Did that marriage take place with the consent of your family members?
No .. I made her my wife when my parents, relatives, friends and everybody were against it. Because I was the only child in the family, the parents could not abandon me. But they never gave a negative response as such. I treated everyone in my wife's family as my own people but she has not addressed to my parents as mother, father in the least. She addressed them as uncle, aunty. I concealed everything, covering up problems and tried to patch up my life. What I wanted was to give her all what she had lost or missed in her life and provide her an honourable life. Whatever anybody said, what I wanted was to leave the past behind with the past that has gone by and to start a fresh life from the beginning of the new journey in life that I had launched.

When inquiring about the Sri Lankan cinema that period of time was realistic. At the time Lucky married her it was a period when she was not much favoured by films as such. He took steps to maintain her popularity and that was by producing some films such as Ahinsa, Paradise, Sathya, Sandamandala and Anthima Reya being foremost among them. Another factor which is understood by his episode is that his married wife was not given to frugality. In the same way she could not even remember his birthday either. "She has not even given me a handkerchief for my birthday", said Lucky. It was not justified to question him whether his wife who treated him like that, stood by him at a moment of illness. From what is known, Lucky's wife was truly graceful. When she was sick at a later time it was to Lucky that people cursed asking that he be struck by a bolt of lightning. Most people used to blame him as if he had committed a crime.

When thoughts kept flowing to my mind as to whether these above-mentioned matters spoken by Lucky for the first time about her are true or not, as if by instinct he broke the ice and quipped "It seems surprising and may wonder whether Lucky is uttering lies, isn't it? People know that I don't tell something false. I must actually be struck by a bolt of lightning if these things are not true. Those who know about her are maybe 2 individuals who had connections with her and married her before this and two or three people of her family".

* Whatever it is ... what you mean is that you managed to carved your status because of her, do you?
No ... when I got married to her I had no particular 'place' for me to make as such. When I got married I was already an actor who was the recipient of the Most Popular Actor as well as the Most Talented Actor Awards in Sri Lanka. Some others who associated her of course took advantage of her. All what I earned I spent for her welfare. She's elder to me. When taking into consideration all her life-experiences according to her seniority ... I thought at least some day she would be somewhat similar to a mother of mine ... at least a nice friend to me. For the very reason of the respect I had for her I just could not reprimand her, inquire anything from her or speak a word in a high tone.

* Happiness in marriage didn't last long ... didn't it?
It may have been there for about 2 years. As it was not possible to gain any advancement through the Arts, I wanted to start a business. When I was bent on making preparations to go forward in life she never took interest over those things. Our house became a sort of boarding-house to her ... didn't care to inquire about home activities. Didn't say a time of going and coming. I thought as the husband ... no harm, these are my duties and proceeded to handle everything without throwing any burden on her. When she used to go out in the morning and return I would ask her whether she has had her meals and if she refuses to eat, it was I who would put the meals into the refrigerator. She won't have meals from home. She's very keen on her cleanliness; but as soon as she returns home in the nights she would go to sleep. Later it dawned on me that she would eat, drink and have some fun with her secret lover and would come home only to sleep.

That's how problems began to crop up. In the process people began to tell me various stories ... that she's going to and coming from various places. At the start I felt ashamed to go behind those things. But later I began to inquire into those things. I saw with my own eyes my married wife with her secret lover. It was simply incredible as to whether it's a person of this nature that she keeps company with! But I didn't ask her anything. She always used to have a row. What she wanted was to get entangled in a quarrel. But I didn't let that happen.

* Can a male be patient like that?
I know that people with whom she had connections had hammered her until her face turned blue. I had no need at all to come down to that level. I became a prisoner in my own house. I can't shout out aloud ... iin the house on the other side the mother was living and on the opposite side was a colleague female artiste. But when things were getting out of hand and matters were reaching its peak I told her to get out without making me a murderer. No sooner I said so she left the house. What she wanted was to wait till I said so. Later I sent all her belongings in two lorries to the home of her newly-found lover".

As he was becoming over-emotional with this story, I diverted the story in another direction.

* Was your wife's cooking tasty?"
She cooked during the first two or tree days after marriage. Yes, she can cook tastily.

* Do you still love her?
Are you mad? How can I love a person who destroyed my life? But I loved her deeply and dedicated everything. I married her for her dignity".

He does not like her being insulted ... even upto now. Because of that even today whenever he travels to another location and when somebody questions him about her he would respond saying "She's at home" and thus try to avoid the talk. He so conceals this story from the world solely because of her. For this reason it is a secret to the world that they are divorced. They enter into divorce after 10 years since the time they have separated from each other and that is about 6 years before this. He even took precautions to carry out divorce procedures in the most secret manner.

* What is the reason that you brought forward for divorce?
There was no answer to that query. The divorce was done in a secretive manner. I didn't want her being offended even in courts. On behalf of the dignity of his married wife he kept silent over what was told against him, bearing all that. In the same way he would hereafter not talk about this topic. However much he spoke I felt from this talk that he still is in love with that marriage which he treated with divinity. People who could make such a dedication in this present society are just a handful.

* What have you got to say about stories that you had an involvement with another actress and that you had a financial issue with your married wife?
It's true that there is no smoke without fire. But the 'smoke' is in the mouth of the people. That statement I deny where my story is concerned. Just as much as that actress, her husband too are good friends of mine. However much an effort was taken to publicise the connection with that actress, now the people of the country have accepted that that story is false. If I were to comment on the subject of finance ... I gave everything I had to her but I have not taken anything from her. As I told earlier, I have not even received a reasonable gift from her.

* Why didn't you think of remarrying?
Though several proposals came my way, my thoughts didn't seem to bend down to those. At a later time of course my mother dismissed from her mind thoughts about my marriage. I loved my wife with all my heart. I bestowed her with unlimited love ... leaving aside even relatives, friends and parents. To give her a lease of life I married her. With my marriage falling apart with she quarreling with me , my innocent father seeing all that fell sick as a result. He even suffered from a heart problem. I who bungled up my life ... how can I pin faith on a girl whom I would find today?

* Don't you think that this issue would change if you had a child today?
That fortune didn't come my way either. She even didn't want to have a child. If I had a child I wouldn't be miserable like this. Both I and Jeevan Cumaratunga got married in the same week. I always think that if I had a child, that child too would be of the same age of Jeevan's children. But everything happens according to karma and dharma. I married with absolute hopes in order to light up her life and mine. What has to happen cannot be prevented according to karma. Things happen in our life according to sin and merit that we bring into this world. Those things found its end that way. I exposed these things thinking that there's no meaning in keeping silent anymore ... for the reason that those who love me in this country should know the truth about my married life.

* Are you sure that she faced no drawbacks on your part?
The biggest mistake I did was allowing her unlimited freedom. I didn't even care to find out her movements. That's because I know that because of her popularity she would be safe. On the other hand I felt ashamed to question her as a man, always about where she is and with whom she is. I loved her as much as I could. In the same way I got a house for her to live, a vehicle as well as dedicate everything I earned.

Every word that he utters even today is mixed with emotion. Though he tries to hide this sensitivity from his countenance which keeps flaring up, he should be crying a thousands times from within. That personality of Lucky which we perceive, clearly confirms to us that the sensitivity hiding behind a tear in his eyes drifting away for a moment when speaking about these matters.

* Are you dejected today over marriage?
Yes ... other than being disappointed because of marriage, I have nothing else to be disappointed about in my life. People in this country love me immeasurably. Equally so they respect me. I have that bitter feeling that the opportunity I had to be a loving husband and father was stripped off me by her ... because I have not reached nirvana as such ... I am also a sensitive human being who feels a pain in my heart, bears a tear in my eye and cannot bear to see my wife going with another.

Today where Lucky draws a blank, there are many other places in that story of his wife's name. Since our media tradition is not to magnify a private life too much than is required and engage in making a sale of it, we brought before you readers some necessary pieces of information. Whatever it is, this story which was enveloped and has been suspended among human feelings and connections such as of a charming romance, dedication and separation can be turned into a film by someone and it would no doubt be an immortal creation. It is because of the value embedded in their lives. This episode which is being written with a certain sense founded on faith is not intended by us to sling mud at any person or else to highlight someone's personal life and to make positive or negative qualities become an unnecessary topic. What we want is to reveal the truth only. Therefore we end this note without making an extension of this episode for the first and last time.

Wanted to kill and commit suicide ... but because of girl friend in the village, that idea changed -- Kottawa Tharindi's killer confesses

Wanted to kill and commit suicide ... but because of girl friend in the village, that idea changed -- Kottawa Tharindi's killer confesses

The lover of Tharindi Aloka (the 26 year old girl) after killing her in her house down Horana Road, Kottawa surrendered to police day-before-yesterday and had made a confession of how he killed her.

He has admitted there that he had prepared himself in advance for the crime and that he had hid in the balcony of the house the day before the incident, thus confirming the information secured by the police. The 29 year old suspect living in Hakmana, Matara had come to that house of the crime the
day before the tragic incident to meet the girl and those in her house and on that occasion an exchange of words had taken place. The cause for this incidentally was that the suspect, the young businessman who was prepared to take the hand of Tharindi in marriage by maintaining a romantic connection with her for a period of 2 years had kept on an attachment with another young girl too in Matara Hakmana area, unknown to Tharindi and after this situation came to light, she had exposed this to that girl across the telephone and paved the way for that connection to shatter which incidentally provoked this aforesaid argument.

Tharindi who had been following a course of studies in Beauty Culture had been keeping her fingers crossed to migrate to Japan for furthering her studies after marrying the assailant. But as a result of bleak news streaming in during the past few months she had blamed him incessantly for her plans being confused. Whatever it is, the youth who seriously reprimanded Tharindi for confusing his personal life left the girl's house in a fit of anger that evening gripped with an anger planning to kill her and finally put an end to his life too.

The suspect who thought that he should delay no further about the plan, armed himself with a knife and having waited till dusk enveloped the environment had stealthily approached the girl's home and after scaling the wall of the house had stayed in hiding on the balcony of the 3rd floor with the sole motive of killing Tharindi. Thus he had stuck himself to a corner of the balcony without any sleep and as he knew the activities taking place in the house had been keeping his fingers crossed for a moment when he could confront Tharindi, without anybody in sight. He was aware of the time that Tharindi's mother and father would set off to the wholesale shop "Ranjith Stores"  adjoining their house down Horana Road, Kottawa which belonged to them and at what time her sister was to leave in the school van to school.

Later, when the time was around 9 in the morning he said that he knew that she was in her room and therefore he had come down and had entered through a door in the house and approached Tharindi, the suspect told police. When he thus went to that bedroom he had explained all matters to Tharindi and even at that instance she had looked down upon him and scolded him, it is mentioned in his confession. He had finally told police that it was under those circumstances that he attacked her on the neck and other regions of her body from the knife he had brought concealed with him. Having remained a few moments watching this macabre scene of death of Tharindi who had thus died in a pool of blood had then thought of committing suicide himself. However, before that he had taken a call to his girl friend in his village and told her "I killed Tharindi ... I am also going to die!" the suspect who surrendered to police confessed.

His village girl friend who had not been on god terms with him because of this dual romance issue though got upset had not spoken anything negative to him but instead consoled him saying "You don't take your life". and because of her kind words which left hopes for him had ultimately dropped the idea of taking his life, he stated. As such he had taken measures to get away from the house. As a consequence, this incident of murder had turned out to be a sensational piece of news and the police were on his tracks and because he was not in a position to escape them he had surrendered under instructions of an attorney-at-law, he had mentioned.

The suspect who surrendered to police was directed to a medical examination yesterday (25) to Homagama Hospital and later was produced before Homagama Magistrate Court. After being produced before Homagama Acting Magistrate Mrs. Priyanka Maddumahewa Patabendige, was remanded till the 4th of next month.

'Maname Princess hoodwinked everybody' -- Saranga negative (-) in the presence of Umali's return of love

The final part of the love-dialogue which ensued at yesterday's Raigam Tele Awards Festival took an emotional look to some extent. From the words "So I am very happy that you hold the mike like this ...", "the first award I receive for acting ... you ...", "hithwala ko ban adare ... hithwala ko ban adare" were
broadcast to the country when Saranga held the microphone to Umali which actually presented a clue that Umali was still in love over Saranga while the latter stayed composed on the public stage as not sensing anything. He had proceeded to show his response this morning itself across the Facebook.

What he has commented was: "The present-day Maname Princess who hoodwinked the prince, the vedda, the king ... and finally the masses ... have stepped on stage ...". It is as follows

Hints passed by Umali to Saranga at Raigam Festival on an official level which united both separated Saranga - Umali

Hints passed by Umali to Saranga at Raigam Festival  on an official level which united both separated Saranga - Umali

The Raigam Telees 2016 Award Ceremony held yesterday (24) at Nelum Pokuna Theatre became a spot where matters relating to a popular tele-drama couple of artistes were brought out in somewhat of an indirect way.

Tele-actor Saranga Disasekera who had been compering Raigam Tele Festival for a number of years had to announce his married wife Umali's name this time as the Best Actress and subsequently having
had to carry on a brief dialogue after that on an official manner however which then became a moment of destiny. During the course of this dialogue where Saranga and Umali had separated some months before this was reflected from  and in which instance what Umali said and from Saranga's facial expressions it became obvious that the two of them are separated. Nevertheless it was evident from some clues that Umali still has a soft corner for Saranga. Some words uttered by her at certain points in her dialogue specifically were targetted at Saranga and she brought the dialogue to a close by singing the line 'hithwala ko ban adare' twice which was a part of the theme song of the tele for which she was given the award. That dialogue is as follows:

Saranga -- "Greetings to you ... this is the first time you claim the Best Actress award at a national award festival. What kind of experience ... what kind of opinion do you have at this moment?"

Umali -- "It's for the first time that I receive the Best Actress award. But I have received awards before this. However I was not in Sri Lanka to accept any of those awards. Because of the honour bestowed on us artistes this time ... I decided to participate in this. So I am very pleased for you holding the mike like this ..."

Saranga -- (soft smile) "Greetings Umali Thillakaratna ... outstanding actress of the year 2016"

Umali -- (indicates that nothing more is to be uttered -- Saranga brings mike closer)
Pardon me for taking a little bit of your time. I get this award on behalf of the person called Noori. The person called Noori does not belong only to me ... belongs to everyone in the Bohemian group. At the same time the audience was with us at many a time the Bohemian drama was broadcast. It was that audience who constantly were a strength to bring it to a close. I bring to memory all members of the audience with great love. The first award I received for acting you ..."  (Saranga is silent).

So I must thank Thilaka Amma on this occasion (Saranga keeps silent). I wish to thank all those who frankly tried to encourage me and discourage me. It's because of my father and mother that I am among the living. What we tried to tell you was a story where that love was grabbed from life. I sing these two lines on behalf of all of them. 'Though a beard was grown like Che Guavera ... though intoxicated like Bob Marley ... where's love men ... where's love men' ... Thank you".

Lover who was angered over breaking up dual romance and murdered Kottawa girl had come previous night and hid in balcony!

Lover who was angered over breaking up dual romance and murdered Kottawa girl had come previous night and hid in balcony!

According to police investigations carried out over the homicide of 26 year old girl Tharindi Aloka at a house in Kottawa day-before-yesterday, a host of fresh information has been unravelled in the process.

Tharindi's parents are millionaire business people who are engaged in wholesale business and their business happens to be situated in the building adjoining their 3-storied house down Horana Road,
Kottawa. It was understood that Tharindi was to go overseas to follow a course in Beauty Culture while her sister is still of schoolgoing age.

A young man known to Tharindi's parents who brought forward a marriage proposal to their daughter had been frequenting this home for a period of about 2 years, it was learned. This boy who was living in Hakmana, Matara too was a businessman himself, it was told. Though Tharindi in the initial stages had a liking to this youth she had abhorred him later as several misdeeds of his behaviour were detected and it has given rise to some issues. These problems have flared up some months before this and she had been vigilant about his movements during which she was able to find out information about his external lover in the form of telephone numbers. Thus, the closest reason which prompted her death was the incident where Tharindi had spoken to that woman and had spilled out information about her Matara lover's 'dual romance'. The woman concerned who was unaware of all this upto then had been taken by surprise and had said that she would drop her association with him.

It is reported that as a result of this the lover had gone into a rage and had threatened Tharindi. He had been in a fit of anger for having lost both ends of his romantic activities as a result. Tharindi's parents had been well aware of the problems that had cropped up in relation to their daughter's lover and doors of the house had been closed on him during the past. As such, though he was of the idea of taking revenge from Tharindi, he had no chance of doing so.

Last 22nd morning Tharindi's sister had gone to school and subsequently to the trading outlet close to where her parent's home was while during that time Tharindi had been at home all alone. It was Tharindi's sister returning home after school who first of all sees her sister murdered. The sister who returns home around 2.20 in the afternoon had looked for her elder sister and as she was not to be seen she had gone to Tharindi's room on the 2nd floor and looked for her. It was then that she was taken by surprise to see her elder sister lying in a pool of blood on her bed. Later she had informed her parents about this and on notifying the police they had arrived on the scene and commenced investigations. 20 fatal blows had been aimed at Tharindi's neck region and her shoulders and it was revealed at the autopsy held last afternoon (23) that the cause of death was that the victim has died from suffocation with blood flowing to her breathing apparatus. It is stated in the report of Chief Judicial Medical Officer of Kalubowila General Hospital, Mr. P.B. Dassanaika that there were no signs of the victim been subjected to rape.

The police had taken steps to inspect the CCTV camera footage of this house which was equipped with external coverage for such security purposes and in that instance it was noted how the lover who is supposed to have killed the girl had fled this house at about 10.30 in the morning as recorded in the footage. Whatever it is, it was not possible to observe instantly to detect the murderer arriving at the house after rewinding the footage. Therefore police had inspected all CCTV cameras and it was only then that it was possible to detect that he had scaled over a wall and entered the house the previous day (21) night and that he had climbed to the 3rd floor. As such it is presumed that he had remained in hiding on the balcony of the 3rd floor till the following day and had waited till a moment when Tharindi was isolated on which occasion he had gained entry to the house and thus committed this crime. After killing the girl he had escaped from the house from the main door. Police sources say that this youth who lives in Matara has by now fled his home and is absconding. Police are now on his tracks.

Police constable who tries sex-stunt on married woman by creeping into house ... gets bellyful from pole under mattress!

Kebethigollewa Police report of an incident where a police sergeant after finding out the address of a woman who came to police for a personal necessity had later forced himself into her house and tried to sexually molest her.

The woman who protested against his attempt had assaulted him with a pole and the sergeant who sustained serious injury was thus admitted to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital. The woman concerned was someone who was living in Ralapanawa, Handagala. She had been to Kebethigollewa Police Headquarters public relations unit for the purpose of obtaining a police clearance certificate
for her son. At that time it was this particular sergeant who was at the desk. From the time she confronted him there the sergeant is supposed to have engaged in conversation all the while looking at her as if in an enticed manner and had gone beyond securing the information required for the woman's son's report and even asked details about her address too. He had also come to know that she is alone after her husband sets off for work. The sergeant had told the woman that to get the report she need not rustify by coming to police and that since there was a relation of his in that location he could hand over the report when coming that way to meet his relative.

Accordingly the sergeant, armed with the report had approached the woman's home yesterday (21) and when handing over the document, by going close to her had tried to make physical contact with her and had gone to the extent of even embracing her. At that moment though the woman had made him understand that she was not in favour of such advances, he had shown signs of going into a temper and then had pushed her into a room and having closed the door had tried to sexually abuse her. On the spur of the moment the woman who acted almost with instinct had lifted the mattress of the bed and taken a bed-pole into her hands and preventing the sergeant from getting near him had proceeded to deal him blow after blow. The sergeant who became the victim in this instance had dropped down on the floor after which the woman had opened the closed door and summoned help from people around.

People in the neighbourhood who came to her rescue had got hold of the sergeant and tied him to a chair. The police who came there had taken the sergeant who was so tied, into their custody and taken him away. The sergeant who sustained serious injury is presently under treatment at Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital under police security, it is reported.

Incidentally it was a 55 year old sergeant who was about to retire from service serving at the public relations unit who had tried to commit this misdeed. On instructions of Senior Superintendent of Police, Ravi Pieris, and Vijith Alwis, Acting Superintendent  of Police has initiated necessary inquiries.  The sergeant taken into custody is expected to be produced before court.

Young girl hacked to death in Kottawa house!

Police yesterday reported a case of finding the dead body of a young girl who has been brutally murdered on the top floor of a house in Kottawa.

The police report says that there were signs all over the victim's body of having faced an attack from a sharp weapon. She was found murdered in this manner on her bed in her bedroom in the house where she was living with members of the family. Her sister who had returned home after school last evening had gone into her elder sister's
room in which instance she had observed this unexpected scene of her elder sister.

The deceased had carried on an affair with a young man from Matara on a proposal brought from her parents during the past; however it came to be known that the girl concerned had disliked the youth as revealed from the evidence gathered in this connection.
