Lover who was angered over breaking up dual romance and murdered Kottawa girl had come previous night and hid in balcony!

According to police investigations carried out over the homicide of 26 year old girl Tharindi Aloka at a house in Kottawa day-before-yesterday, a host of fresh information has been unravelled in the process.

Tharindi's parents are millionaire business people who are engaged in wholesale business and their business happens to be situated in the building adjoining their 3-storied house down Horana Road,
Kottawa. It was understood that Tharindi was to go overseas to follow a course in Beauty Culture while her sister is still of schoolgoing age.

A young man known to Tharindi's parents who brought forward a marriage proposal to their daughter had been frequenting this home for a period of about 2 years, it was learned. This boy who was living in Hakmana, Matara too was a businessman himself, it was told. Though Tharindi in the initial stages had a liking to this youth she had abhorred him later as several misdeeds of his behaviour were detected and it has given rise to some issues. These problems have flared up some months before this and she had been vigilant about his movements during which she was able to find out information about his external lover in the form of telephone numbers. Thus, the closest reason which prompted her death was the incident where Tharindi had spoken to that woman and had spilled out information about her Matara lover's 'dual romance'. The woman concerned who was unaware of all this upto then had been taken by surprise and had said that she would drop her association with him.

It is reported that as a result of this the lover had gone into a rage and had threatened Tharindi. He had been in a fit of anger for having lost both ends of his romantic activities as a result. Tharindi's parents had been well aware of the problems that had cropped up in relation to their daughter's lover and doors of the house had been closed on him during the past. As such, though he was of the idea of taking revenge from Tharindi, he had no chance of doing so.

Last 22nd morning Tharindi's sister had gone to school and subsequently to the trading outlet close to where her parent's home was while during that time Tharindi had been at home all alone. It was Tharindi's sister returning home after school who first of all sees her sister murdered. The sister who returns home around 2.20 in the afternoon had looked for her elder sister and as she was not to be seen she had gone to Tharindi's room on the 2nd floor and looked for her. It was then that she was taken by surprise to see her elder sister lying in a pool of blood on her bed. Later she had informed her parents about this and on notifying the police they had arrived on the scene and commenced investigations. 20 fatal blows had been aimed at Tharindi's neck region and her shoulders and it was revealed at the autopsy held last afternoon (23) that the cause of death was that the victim has died from suffocation with blood flowing to her breathing apparatus. It is stated in the report of Chief Judicial Medical Officer of Kalubowila General Hospital, Mr. P.B. Dassanaika that there were no signs of the victim been subjected to rape.

The police had taken steps to inspect the CCTV camera footage of this house which was equipped with external coverage for such security purposes and in that instance it was noted how the lover who is supposed to have killed the girl had fled this house at about 10.30 in the morning as recorded in the footage. Whatever it is, it was not possible to observe instantly to detect the murderer arriving at the house after rewinding the footage. Therefore police had inspected all CCTV cameras and it was only then that it was possible to detect that he had scaled over a wall and entered the house the previous day (21) night and that he had climbed to the 3rd floor. As such it is presumed that he had remained in hiding on the balcony of the 3rd floor till the following day and had waited till a moment when Tharindi was isolated on which occasion he had gained entry to the house and thus committed this crime. After killing the girl he had escaped from the house from the main door. Police sources say that this youth who lives in Matara has by now fled his home and is absconding. Police are now on his tracks.
