The sinful criminal who killed 10 year old child ....

 to appease revenge on father!

The sinful man who murdered the 10 year old boy by killing him by cutting off his limbs with a sharp instrument in a lonely house near a granite workshop in Kapurugoda area in Panagoda had explained his reason for it saying that he had done this to avenge the child's father because of spiting him.

Well aware of the idea that he would be able to get away scot free from this murder too which has been committed on purpose being released after having been arrested in relation to acts of homicide before this also for the reason that capital punishment has not been enforced. After committing the murder the suspect had fled the place; however on an operation conducted by the police the suspect was cordoned when he had been walking in Bandarawatta area in Biyagama.

He is a resident of Kotelawala, Kaduwela and known by the name of Ella Liyanage Abraham Perera (50). The suspect who has been strongly addicted to drugs is a notorious criminal in the island whose name has been listed in police records in connection with a number of crimes. The suspect who had killed a young man in Nawagamuwa area before this had been remanded over many a crime including housebreaking in the year 2007 and has now come back to freedom once again. Later on he had been appearing under various names and had lived in Panagoda area. There he had engaged himself in a quarry workshop and about 2 years before this, a part of the suspect's genital organs had to be removed as a result of a blast that had taken place at the quarry. This person who had not even entered into a marriage had been living with a terrible vengeance towards society.

It was a child named Kavindu Devinda Kapuruge who was living in Kapurugoda, Panagoda who was subjected to murder as a consequence of revenge. Kavindu who had been schooling in grade 5 at Parakrama Vidyalaya in Panagoda was expecting results of his Year 5 scholarship examination. On the day of the incident last Friday because of rain Kavindu had not gone to school and had stayed back at home. His mother had left home to hand over a parcel of food to his elder brother. Though Kavindu had remained at home with his father, the father too had later gone to the farmhouse. Kavindu's father who returned home after 10 minutes had noticed that the child was not at home and had searched all over for him and had even told the neighbours about it and began to search further. Having noticed the lonely house which was situated close to the site of the quarry being locked up and having tried to open the door which had been to no avail had therefore given up the idea and instead had once more begun to make a further search as to what happened to Kavindu. However much he searched the child was not to be found and the crowd including the father had broken open the said door when they were finally able to find the dead body of the child hacked to death with the neck, hands and feet severed.

The suspect had confessed to the police in this manner: "From the time I came to work at the quarry, the child's father kept spiting me. What I wanted was to give him the most unbearable pain which he could never bear. When I went home the child was watching television. I went inside the house after waiting till the home-people of the child went out. Later I brought the child to the lonely house and cut him up into pieces".

The quarry which belonged to Kavindu's father's younger brother was where the suspect had been employed and he had been staying in that lonely house near the quarry itself. The suspect had planned out this murder for a period of time and after going to Godagama area had purchased a machette 3 months ago and had been keeping it hidden inside the house where he was staying. On noticing the mother and father of the child going out on the 25th, he had gone to the boy's house and had told the child, "Puthe .... there are some coins .... let's go, I'll give them to you" and thus duped the child and brought him to this lonely house. Later, having shown some coins in a small pit prepared inside the house, the suspect had instructed the child as to how to get those coins after digging for them.

While the child was in the process of digging the pit to take the coins, the suspect had brought the machette and dealt a blow with it on the neck of the child to be severed from his body. Subsequently he had chopped the child's body into pieces and after throwing away the machette he had got into a three-wheeler and beat a retreat.

After the suspect was nabbed by the police when he was on the way to show the machette used in the murder, he had slipped and fallen into an old quarry pit. At that point the suspect's feet were seriously injured from a rock that had come tumbling down and he was admitted yesterday (27) to Homagama Hospital and transferred to the Colombo National Hospital.

The suspect who was under treatment for serous injury is under treatment at the hospital with police protection and was afterwards taken to courts. The suspect who was thus taken into custody has been instructed by Homagama Magistrate, Mr. Y.R.B. Nelundeniya to be remanded until the 7th of next month.
