Evidence of LTTE brutalities resurfaces from the earth

Four years after the elimination of terrorism from the Sri Lankan soil traces of its remnants have surfaced.


Pieces of human bones have been found in Manthai in Thirukedeeshshwaram-Mannar, an area that was under the LTTE rule 10 years ago. A group of workers who were digging trenches to lay pipelines near the Manthai junction in Thirukedeesh- waram, Mannar came across pieces of human bones. They informed the Wedithalathew Police through the Grama Niladhari. The crime branch of the Mannar Police acting jointly with the Wedithlathew Police found bones from four more human bodies. The office of the Judicial Medical Officer in Mannar confirmed that the bones are more than 10 years old. Police have established that the area had been located, north of the LTTE forward defence line which was an unprotected area. So far bones from 10 bodies have been found and the crime branch of the Mannar Police said that the investigations will be continued into tomorrow.
